Image: http://img26.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img26&image=newmanskinny.jpg Story: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/02/48hours/main603481.shtml Highlight: "Since Seinfeld closed the door on Newman for the last time in 1998, Knight has shed nearly 100 pounds, not through gastric bypass, but the old-fashioned way. He decided to exercise more and eat less"
OMG. That's amazing. It almost looks like a photochop. I don't see this as being a good move for him though. He's a pretty iconic character, and yes he'll keep getting typecast if he keeps the weight, but at least he'd be working. I'm not sure that audiences will go for the Newman. It's like Drew Carrey getting LASIK. He still keeps the glasses even though he doesn't need them because of his image.
I saw him guest star on the Drew Carey Show not too long ago, and I was surprised to see him so trim. I first thought he had had the surgery until I looked him up online and heard the story.
you can see him skinny in Cheaper By The Dozen with Steve Martin. He is the chandelair installer. No soup for you!
"exercise more and eat less" Wow, who knew you could lose weight without a gimmicky diet and simply following the "calories burnt > calories consumed" formula????
I saw a story on him on one of the NBC news shows a couple months back. I was surprised to see him looking the way he is also. He had hired a personal trainer and a cook as well. I think I remember him saying he doesn't particulary like how everyone says, "Hello, Newman."
I saw a story on him just a couple of nights ago. Good for him. Take that Atkins and all you other faddists. All his meals are portion-controlled and delivered to him. He also works with a personal trainer, a psychiatrist, and a support group-- thanks to Seinfeld Success.
That's a man! Don't be a loser like Al Roker or that fat guy from American Idol. Exercise and eat right! Oh, and **** Jarrod from Subway. How fat do you have to be to eat two hoagies and lose weight ??? What the **** was this guy eaten before?
Even pro athletes are on Atkins now. That's how both Shaq and Eddy Curry lost weight. If NBA trainers are sayign it's ok, I'm cool with it.
It's 9:30 in the morning, and I'm already watching Seinfeld. Anyone else watching the all-day marathon on TBS?
Yea...where do I sign up for portion/calorie controlled meals that are delivered to me? The worst part about trying to maintain a healthy diet is trying to figure out what to eat which usually requires a lot more time spent in preparation than unhealthier meals. It is also about keeping enough flavor and variety in the meals to stick with it rather than eating the same healthy, dull stuff over and over which gets old leading to unhealthy, convenient eating at some point. He's had a lot of help but, in the end, he has to do it. He certainly has it easier than your regular person would. I'm happy for the catered to...rich, pampered celebrity...I really am.
Wow...that great. Isnt it good to see someone lose alot of weight and not have to have their stomatch reduced, fat sucked out or some other weird unhealthy procedure to get thin.
The story warmed my cold, cold heart; but here's one thing that ticked me off: "It's great to be funny and not be fat funny." Total BS. The Newman character wasn't "fat funny," it was f!3ckin' funny. Chris Farley toppling over a table is "fat funny," but Chris Farley's voice while playing the Matt Foley character is funny. Michael Richards, at times, could be "tall funny," but the rest of the time it was his comedic genius at work. Wayne Knight didn't need any help to be funny, and he certainly didn't need 327 pounds to create one of the most memorable characters in television history. Good for him.
