It's quite ironic/tragic of him to die this way, but the man was better than many millionaire as$holes in this country who don't give a damn about anyone or anything besides themselves. Read more about him on Wikipedia and you'll see he was an enthusiastic entrepreneur as well as remarkable human being. Yes his invention wasn't all that other hyped it to be but give credit where it's due.
not his invention, he simply bought the company last year. still, he sounded like a very generous man.
You gotta know the investors/stockholders are basically like, "short of him killing a handful of 9/11 orphans in this accident, this is worst possible thing that could've happened to us PR-wise".
This reminds me of when the Segway first came out. Does anyone else remember that? It was built up to ridiculous proportions before it was announced. It was supposed to be an invention that changed the world. Many people speculated. Hover technology? Teleportation? Cold fusion? Nope, just a scooter. What a letdown. I'll never forgive the inventor for that. Who knew that years later it would be a great way to show those around you how silly you can look riding one. Don't forget your helmet! Oh and may the deceased in the story rest in peace.
Critics point to Segway Inc's silence over its financial performance as an indication that the company is still not profitable, as about US$100 million was spent developing the Segway. Dean Kamen predicted that the Segway "will be to the car what the car was to the horse and buggy" and John Doerr, a venture capitalist who invested in the company, predicted that Segway Inc would be the fastest company to reach US$1 billion in sales. In fact only about 30,000 Segways were sold from 2001 to 2007. -- WIKI
