Yes, this is the only system I have. Its been doing this for like 4-5 months but I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone can help. With any game you put in there, it plays the game for about 15 minutes and then it restarts and goes back to the cloud screen (main menu for the VMU, cd player, etc...)... I'm playing NBA2k2 in an 82 game season, 12 minutes a quater, and I've played like 2 games. lol sad, I know? Any help is well appreciated, thanks!
I had the same exact problems with the same exact game. Luckily I had just bought my DC so I ended up going back and exchanging it for a better one.
Seriously, HTown: They sell the Dreamcast at Hollywood video for 30 bucks. If blowing on the disk ain't working anymore, there's your next bet.
lord... the bad thing is, it had been working fine for lkike 2 years and then it just started doing that. UTweezer is probably right. Need to replace the laser.
I mean its like it has a timer, and when the timer goes off is when it subsides from the game and goes to that menu. Hey, UTweezer, if the Laser was in that bad of shape, would it still work for a few minutes and then cut off?
No idea, it'd prob be cheaper to buy one off eBay. They're prob down to $30! It'd cost more then that to ship it to/from Sega.
I'd suspect it'd cost more to fix it than buy a new one. Gamestop sells used ones for cheap. I have an extra for in-case my beloved dreamcast bites the dust!
Yeah! I remember doing that. Those old NES games were great, but that was a poorly designed system...can't believe it stayed unchanged for 8 years...
When my old playstation started skipping and restarting, someone told me to flip it over while playing a game. That extended the life of the PS for a while longer. Donno if it will work for a DC
Flip it over? Flip what over? The system itself or the game? Do you do it WHILE its playing the game? I'll try it! Even though it seems like something my 8 year old niece would say.
Flip the entire system over. With the PS, it would make the laser "drop" a bit closer to the cd correcting minor misalignments. But as said, it only extended the life of the PS a few months and I ultimately had to replace it. Plus, I have no idea if it will work with a DC. Shouldn't hurt to try though!
Yeah, because eventually, when you have done that and are about to break an all time high score and finish the last boss in Final Fantasy 10 and it freezes up, you are going to kick the living crap out of it, and then throw it up against the brick wall, and then take out your favorite Lousville Slugger and bat the fugger out of the park.
Not that in particular, but I have lost it on other things. I can really imagine this happening though...I have a pretty vivid imagination.
