My band Modulator (www.modulator.org) is having its CD release party next week. Here is the info: Modulator w/headliner Steve Burns (of Blues Clues) and Dune,TX July 29th - 8PM Walter's on Washington 4215 Washington Ave all ages $8 advance; $11 day of show For those of you who are interested in coming but are on a budget (like me), contact me and I will sell you advance tickets which you can pick up at the door. Thanks for your support and hope to see you at the show.
This does not bring about visions of Subtomic rocking. It brings about visions of a thinking chair and a bunch of goofy kids songs! Yes I know Steve Burns has a rock band. I am just messing with you
Whoa, what a coincidence -- someone put a flier for this show on my car when I was at "They Might Be Giants". I was planning on trying to make it.
is burns touring with anyone from the lips?? its funny cause modulator and burns both seem to have that sciencey thing going. i liked the burns album more than i expected and i will definitely give modulator a listen! along the same thematic lines, anyone here heard of the A Frames?
Bump Again, please email me (tom@modulator.org) if you're interested in going so I can make arrangements for you to pick up tickets at door. We go on at 10:15PM BTW.
subtomic, Is your music anything like Postal Service? I listened to a sample but I really couldn't tell.
I've never heard Postal Service so I couldn't tell you for sure. However, based on the description on allmusic.com, I think we're probably in the same vein (influences are similar). I'll try checking them out when I'm not at work. BTW, after this show, Modulator is playing the L.A.D.I.E.S show at the Proletariat on Sunday, August 8. There are a whole bunch of great bands playing, so even if you can't stick around for our set (we go on at 8PM), you should still chck this show out.
subtomic, I wasn't able to stay for much of the show, but I did enjoy it even though it's not the type of music I usually like. I also bought both EPs and had a chance to listen to them on the way. It's good stuff. I may also be able to catch y'all on Sunday the 8th. The Asylum Street Spankers will be at Rudyards on that Sat. If I can find a good show on that Friday, maybe I can go for the trifecta.
Available for your listening pleasure (I hope). A short playlist for my very humble Live365.com radio effort. 1. Two Songs by Modulator 2. Two songs by Carl Hayn and the Holdouts 3. One song each by Alejandro Escovedo, Storyville, The Hollisters, The Stone Coyotes, and Speedtwinn. I have about 100 songs uploaded to it, so this is just a very small sample. http://www.live365.com/stations/307853
gwayneco, Thanks for all of your support. I'm glad you liked the show and the CD and hope you'll come again. It's also really cool of you to include us on your radio effort - if you don't mind, I'd like to post the link you have below on our website. Let me know if that's OK. Again, I highly recommend that all local music fans check out the L.A.D.I.E.S. show on Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Proletariat. Besides Modulator (who will be introducing our new guitarist Ronnie to the Houston crowd - he just played his first show with us in Denton and rocked - despite having just a week to learn the set), this will be the lineup: 4-5pm Dj Ginatonic AWESOME 5pm UME 6pm PANIC IN DETROIT 7pm OCTOPUS PROJECT 8pm MODULATOR 9pm AWESOME 915pm CMON CMON 1015pm THE APPLICATORS 1115pm MOCK RUN 1215 am ERIKA THRASHER (featuring Swarm of Angels) This will be my signature from now on. Truer words are rarely spoken.
Thanks. And feel free to link away. The station is just for my amusement, so if anybody finds it interesting that's a nice bonus. I would like to add some recorded music from Jeff's two bands and blendt as well. I believe Jeff is working on some mp3s for Orange... and Slapshifter. Anyway, I had an idea to do a little ClutchFans.net mix as one of my playlists, so I hope to add some more songs from any forum folks who are in a band. Overall, I have about a total of 110 songs, mostly of an Americana/Blues?Country(but not that Nashville crap) vein. I kept the sound streaming rate at a fairly low bitrate (I think that's what it's called) so that dial-up users such as myself could listen to it. You won't find too many of these songs on a Clear Channel station. Here's the list of all the songs I have uploaded. http://www.geocities.com/garyco_77521/gradio.html
