I attend Hunter College of the City University of New York at Lexington and 68th Street, in Manhattan's upper East Side. There are many consulates and embassies in our area(including France and Russia), which is relatively close to the UN building. and at approximately 12:30 PM Eastern TIme, an announcement came over our loudspeaker: Attention, Attention, this is not a drill. Due to police activity on 69th and Park Avenue, we are evacuating the building. We all started to herd like cattle out of the building when I asked a security guard what was happening. She told me to keep moving and I asked her again. She pulled me to the side and said she did not want anyone to panic. I asked "Is this terrorist related" and she nodded her head yes. She mouthed the word "bomb" that is when I got out of there. Everyone was standing around trying to see what was going on. I am sure it is just a bomb threat, but it was the first time I was part of any evacuation or security enforced situation post 9/11. I sure hope everything gets back to normal soon. no reports in any local radio or television programs. I will keep you posted. your man on the NY street. across110thstreet
I called school security and they said the building is safe and classes are back insession. the only thing I heard on the radio was that the traffic involved because of the incident is being cleared. this will probably never be reported, just another "incident"
