http://www.seattlepi.com/scorecard/nflnews.asp?articleID=255021 Denver signs QB Simms, RB Arrington Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos continued their off-season spending spree by adding free agent quarterback Chris Simms and running back J.J. Arrington to their roster. Terms of each deal were not announced. Simms signed with the Tennessee Titans on September 9, 2008 after starter Vince Young was sidelined with a sprained MCL. Simms played in one game for the Titans and threw two passes. Before his time with Tennessee, Simms played three seasons with Tampa Bay and started 10 games in 2005. Arrington played in 11 regular season games, three starts, for Arizona in 2008, running for 187 yards on 31 carries with one touchdown. He also added 29 receptions for 255 yards and another score. Serving as the Cardinals' kick returner as well, Arrington returned 36 kickoffs for 923 yards, with a 93-yard touchdown return. In four years with Arizona, the California product has totaled 654 rushing yards, 693 receiving yards and five rushing/receiving touchdowns.
I didn't really pay attention, but I thought it was all over the news yesterday that the Seattle P-I was dead.
It's going to continue as an (obviously much smaller) online-only operation. By the way, this article is from March 5.
I still can't believe the Broncos decided to run Cutler out of town. That new coach is going to regret this offseason for a long, long time.
Cutler for Simms is totally sweet. Of course, Cutler is still on the roster and, in all likelihood, will still be there in September, I'm guessing.
