STevie: Has cooler nickname(STevie wonder, The Franchise, etc....), has played under the tutelage of the greatest center in the league, has played with Barkley, has been coached by Rudy, T(nuff said), has a tight relationship with his teammates, has a bigger HEART Brand: Has a disenfranchised team with no future in the NBA, only a glorious dynasty in their past, one of the smarmiest owners in the league(Krause), never got to play under Big Zen Triangle, has a really good core of college basketball stars that wont do much in this league for quite some time. hmmmmmmmmmmmm, i still cant decide..... ------------------ "Playing with Steve makes my job so much easier, "He's such a complete player. He has some great moves and shoots from the outside and in the post. We communicate well on the floor." - Hakeem Olajuwon "It's great to have that inside-outside balance," Francis said. "We've tried to get that all season, with Hakeem and me clicking at the same time.
Don't crap on Brand because he's backed by a moron. He's a fine player that I'd take on the Rockets anytime. ------------------ The KRUNKministrator
So would I, but I wouldn't take him over Francis. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
Keeley's right. The Rockets are backed by some morons too... a particular domain name comes to mind... but you can't fault them for that.
You really can't compare a PG's numbers to a PF's. That's like comparing Kevin Garnett to Gary Payton. Also if Steve was a classless person, how come Cuttino and Mo stayed because of him? How come Dream, a very classy guy, likes the man he's becoming? And how come your own Elton Brand is one of his close friends? Don't be surprised if your savior doesn't end up staying in Chicago. Maybe he'll be a Rocket after a couple of more seasons in a losing team. BTW can your guy hit a 3? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Wakko67 (edited April 19, 2001).]
I think Elton Brand is great, but he's the Bulls' marquee player. He has to do all the work. So he has some numbers as a result. Dude, would you rather have Francis and Fizer or Brand and Fizer? 'Nuff said. ------------------
stevie franchise not being a model citizen? That dude is a moron, what has Stevie done to be a bad citizen? Accept screwing the Grizz (which they deserved) he has been a awesome influence to the Houston community. IF Francis was a bad person.. why would Webber say the positive stuff he has been saying? Dude is a stupid Bulls fan who is just freakin jealous that his Bulls totally suck in the NBA!!! I CURSE THE BULLS!!! ------------------
I thought it was funny that the ESPN poster said Brand had better numbers for a player of his position. How many PFs average more rebounds per game than Brand? Several. How many PGs average more rebounds per game than Francis? 0 ------------------
He probably meant that Brand gets more rebounds (a PF stat) than Francis gets assists (a PG stat) While Steve is a very good player, 6 assists for a PG is not at the top of the heap. ------------------ "Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" -- Dennis Miller
True, but it's a weak argument to use his assist numbers as a barameter of the playmaker that he is. Anybody who knows the Rockets offense knows this...... ------------------
If Francis played for Chicago he would have won the scoring title. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Uh, Stevie has about 55 or so more wins in 2 seasons than Elton does... Nice try... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Us: 45-37, 55%, 9th in West Them: 15-67, 18%, LAST in the LEAGUE You can cling to the "Brand is our Savior" only so long. Then you have to start wondering, "When is he going to lead us out of the cellar?" I have your answer. ------------------ HEAD KNIGHT: We are now... no longer the Knights Who Say 'Ni'. I hear being a PF in the East is pretty difficult. And that putting up 20ppg on a team that won 1 out of every 5 or 6 games is something to holler about. 1 out of every 5 or 6 games, hell I could put up points w/ that sort of abandon. Steve Francis is making history. How many players score in double digits w/ 6 boards/ 6 assists? How many players do it w/ 45 wins behind their back? ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
The stats look like a wash to me....I may even give the edge to Steve. Of course you have to think, Brand is the only player on the Bulls with any talent, and prolly the only guy who shoots over 40%. Also, there are more talented pg's then there are PF's. Your obsession with Steve is very unhealthy. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
It can't be a good feeling that your PF averaged only 3.7 more boards per game than out PG. But I digress........ ------------------ HEAD KNIGHT: We are now... no longer the Knights Who Say 'Ni'. Hmm...how to respond... You can point out statistics where Brand looks better than Franchise if you want, but what about season record? Franchise led his team to more wins. (Double) advantage Francis. What about when the teams went head to head. Which team won more? Advantage Francis. In a conference who has point guards like Payton, Kidd, Brandon, Mighty Mouse, (dare I say) Stockton, etc. I'd say Francis more than held his own. Who was Brand's most fierce competition? Anthony Mason? For performance vs. talent in the position, advantage Francis. And who was featured in an MTV show showing off his pad? Advantage Francis. CLEARLY Francis takes the cake in Season II. ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
The guy who posted on ESPN, whom I suspect is Roy d. Elton, conveniently rounded down Steve's 19.9 ppg average to 19, lol. Elton's average was 20.1, and he took more shots per game then Steve (16.4 to 15.2). You're reaching Roy. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ?
