Below has all the teams I have on record in the league and all teams I have on record as not in. Any team not claimed is available to take-- records should give you a good indication as to their strength. Many have been stripped of their stars, which explains some of the good team's poor records, but this can be fixed easily. Zo, Hill, Ilguaskas, and Penny will be back into the league next year, and will be available on a first come first serve basis for new GMs. (one per team of course) And if we get lucky and get more than 4 or 5-- we will have an expansion draft to balance out the power a little bit. For the first season you may have things a little rocky-- but you can make the playoffs, esp. in the East, and you will have a franchise player in Zo or Hill, players from an expansion draft, players from the two round draft next week (see other threads in this forum for info), players from the future two-round drafts, and players from the future rookie draft, all by worst to first records. So if you are afraid of doing bad-- remember you would have top picks in all of those drafts even if you did, so you won't be bad for long. Anyone interested in joining season 2?

Yeah come on people - join in - look what Pacers and Knicks managed in the east with their current rosters. Think what you can do with them adding a Hill/Mourning/etc and draftpicks. A playoff spot in the east is for the taking - and I guess other teams could open up to, or? And with several season coming you can build a team into stardom - what an accomplishment.

What do you do with Nets Cat? - lol I didnt even know they had a GM - I guess we will see what GMs are active when its time to submit players to the draftpool.

I'll take the plunge, assuming of course the BBS lets me post this.

If they remain available, I wish to captain the Celtic ship back to its former glory.

Cool we got a new GM - good luck puedlfor. Cat give him his roster and stats. I guess he aslo will have to give up two starters, but he surely will get better ones back having the current #1 draft, and getting 1 player from the supplement draft. I guess Zo or Hill could work miracles in improving a team.

I'm not sure I want to see what I've been left after the Celtics have been picked dry.

And 'Zo had better help this team a lot.

**Well, at least I've been left with that dynamite combo Kenny Anderson and Vitaly Potapenko.

Seriously though, whats my starting line-up look like Anderson, Stith, Griffin, Battie and Potapenko?

Just pick your team. We will have a three round draft in which each team gave up two starters.

After that, the season starts, you can make any trades you want and all. Then obviously the top 8 from each conference advance to the playoffs.

The games are simulated on The Cat's playstation/PC.

He usually does stats and standings 5-6 times a weeks.

Also, as a new GM, you get dibs on one of a group of players who missed the year with a serious injury. Its first come, first serve. As the first new GM, I'm taking Alonzo Mourning.

BTW, a question about these players - If, for example, I take 'Zo and Johny Rocket takes Hill and no more new GM's show up, do the remainder of the players go into the draft pool, so I could use a draft pick on Penny Hardaway?

If no more people show up I still want to keep Penny and Ilgauskas available as incentives for future owners to join, but I'm hoping with the positive response so far that they will and someone will get them this year. Besides, there are better people than Penny in the draft pool anyway if you have the #1 pick.

I'm not at home right now so I can't say for 100%, but these are the starting lineups for the Celts and Knicks I'm pretty sure:

    Celts

    Potapenko
    McCarty
    E. Williams
    Stith
    K. Anderson

    w/ Battie, Griffin off bench

    Knicks

    Harrington
    Kurt Thomas
    Larry Johnson
    Jud Buechler
    Charlie Ward

Luc Longley, etc. off bench. This group did very well last season however, as evidenced by the record, so obviously they play well together.

Best team remaining is probably the Pacers... Miller and Rose are gone, but there are still a lot of very solid players on this team, esp. young guys, and young guys do get better season by season. Best, Croshere, Harrington, Bender, Foster, etc. all remain.

OK then, that's fine. But I don't know how much incentive Zydranus Ilgauskas is, he's good a top 10 center, but not necesarily a franchise saver.

And I wasn't planning on using the No.1 overall on Penny, I already figured out who I'm drafting No.1 overall. I think.

If we want stats, we just ask though, right?

I was thinking of something, why don't we have a team thread that includes rosters/stats of every team and gets updated every once in a while?

I know it would be asking a lot of you to do it Cat, so I'd be willing to make a thread strictly for other GM's to reference for trade talk.

I'm coming on dead week too, so I'll have plenty of time to start a team/stat thread. I'll even put it in my signature for other gm's to find the thread easier.

    What do you guys think?

Shouldn't one of those be the Cavs?

OK, its not important, just something that stuck out.

And what's with the "Active?" next to the Nets, does that mean their players might be draftable?

We think that dude disapeared. It says "Active?" b/c we don't know if he's still here. I don't know what would happen to the Nets if they don't have a GM.

What Cat told me earlier is that all teams not GM'd is open for the draft. For the teams already ripped of their best players that would mean just to supplement to the later picks of the draft as there are not to many on those teams that could go very early. If Nets or other open up thats a completly different picture. Nets have Marbury, Van Horn, Martin etc + their 3 rounds last year that would be very interessting to pick up in this years draft. The best thing I guess if we lose Nets is if someone comes in as a new GM. Another option would be for Cat to pull Marbury into the incentive pool, and give the rest up for grabs in the draft. But I'm just speculating - Cat [Stern [IMG]] would know what to do.

I'm pretty sure we only have 2 rounds in the regular draft this year. I don't know about the rookie draft. But I guess we could have 2 rounds there too, but perhaps you don't want your late second round rookie [IMG]

Btw for each draft pick you take you have to waive a player from your roster. That players goes into the team you drafted from if you drafted from a No GM team - else I dont know - retirement or just back in the draft pool? [IMG]

I think this is a marvelous idea. We can have the official roster/pick thread with stats for every team in the league - including those not with a GM. This do not have to be that much extra work either, as each GM could do most of their work themself.

How this could work - Each GM post their roster and picks in thisn thread once. When this change they EDIT that post. This way we will keep the thread short and informative. It is imortant that such a thread does not include other posts as tradetalk/stat request etc.

Then when ppl get updated stas from Cat with a request they have done they can edit in these stats in their team post to get the information up to date. What we also should do is get Cat as an administrator/moderator of the hoops forum so he can edit post to correct rosters/stats for passive GMs (that are about to get the boot [IMG]). He could also keep up with rosters for teams with no GM. This way it will be a very informative thread an drafting would be much easier.
