I was looking for a break from all the Melo and Nets talk when I ran across this tidbit from draftexpress on Sean Williams at the DLeague showcase: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Sean-Williams-392/ He's always had the tools to be exactly what the Rockets are missing: length, shot blocking, defense at the 5, but was always a bit crazy in the head. Maybe that's turned around. He's only 24 y.o. What do we have to lose? Assuming some 2 or 3 for 1 deals are made at the deadline, we might have room in the rotation for this guy.
Read my sig.....I would love for the Rox to take a look at him....but they have no rosters spots available. No flexibility. DD
Funny, but we have 2 guys that are not doing anything in Yao Ming and Jared Jeffries.......if nothing gets done in trade, I expect Morey to buy out Jeffries and sign Williams or someone like him. DD
Yao Ming's contract is covered by insurance money, so I don't see him as an option. The insurance is probably not effective for buyouts.
I agree, that is why I said...Jared Jeffries gets bought out......If they can't trade Yao's contract for an upgrade, I expect they will just take the money and run.... DD
I am hoping we take a shot at Sean too. But I'm wondering if Tiny Gallon is more in Morey's sights because of his age and time to develop.
Morey has painted himself into a corner right now, he NEEDS a trade to clear some room...... I am certain we would have signed one of them if he had the roster space, but I guess they feel Ish is more valuable....... DD
The keeping of Ish makes me feel even more strongly that one of our point guards is going to be leaving. If not by the trade deadline, then I think it definitely happens this off season.
Yeah, I agree, either AB or Lowry will be dealt, IMO....if I had to guess, if there is a trade THIS year, it would probably be AB, if there is a trade in the offseason, it would probably be Kyle... DD
Not necessarily... If we were to move a couple of wings e.g. Martin and Bud that might leave Brooks and Lowry starting games and Ish might be needed in that scenario.
We need too grab this guy before another team does. He can be a serious shot blocker similar to a younger Theo Ratliff.
Or that Brooks' ankle still remains a concern or that the organization doesn't want to give up on a good prospect yet.
Williams is really the typical reason and thought that some guys just arent ready for the nba life and are not college material. So those guys go to college just to get away from home life and build up enough stock to get drafted. Once drafted and the millions that come with it, their maturity issues and lack of discipline catches up with them and they're out the league. Fortunately and un fortunately the D-League is providing them with an avenue to rehab their image and learn the nba life. The unfortunate part is that it took them being out of the league to get to that point. My hope has been this and i talked with demps before he became gm of the hornets that the d-league truly becomes a minor league system. I think it should be open to any 18 yr old coming out of high school. No one has ever spoken a word about the child labor that go on in other countries when it comes to basketball academies and stuff. Dirk, peja, parker, yao and other have been training to be basketball players 1st and foremost and no one cares, but in america they want every kid to go to college. Well, most kids arent college material. Most of those kids only go to college so they can get drafted and play ball. Maybe in the upcoming labor negotiations they will open it up and make it mandatory to either go to the d-league for a year or they have to go to college for 3 like baseball.
Isn't the D-League already open to all players coming out of high school? For example: Latavious Williams. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latavious_Williams
