well we know he won't be here tonight. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...nets_sean_williams_arrested_at_bc_over_r.html
Nobody wants him anymore. Sean Williams is a nutcase with a serious attitude problem. I used to think he had potential but the guy became radioactive even before this arrest.
I've just never understood how such talented guys can let their potential go to waste like this. They have to know that they're throwing away millions of dollars and an opportunity that only the tiniest percentage of people could even dream of. This guy could be set for the rest of his life if he wasn't such a dumbass.
I would still take him, he got arrested for going to a BC game, and it violated a restraining order against him. Big deal. DD
The sum of what he's done is indeed a big deal. Even on a rookie contract his value is less than zero. Because of his brain, Sean Williams has little potential and he's high risk to have around. Some guys just aren't cut out to succeed in the NBA even if they have the physical ability. After Sean Williams learns how to be an adult, then maybe he can focus enough energy on becoming a decent NBA player. There is a reason the Nets can't give him away. Think Eddie Griffin. Do not touch with 10-foot pole.
From what I've read on Sean Williams, he is a head case and ready to blow up at any time. There is a reason that he can not find a spot on the Nets despite of his freakish athleticism. I don't want him on the Rockets, not this year when there's already too much drama in that locker room.
I never agreed with cutting EG. Why not just put him on the IR and get him some help? Why cut him away from the only thing that keeps him away from all that bad stuff? Maybe they didn't know he was as troubled as we know now. But I can't help but think that things would have been much different if the Rockets didn't waive him.
Nothing would have been different had the Rockets kept him. He was on a downward spiral since his senior year of high school. The guy had ever opportunity to get help for himself and didn't. The NBA (and individual teams) can offer help, but they can't force a player to help himself. Griffin simply wasn't receptive to any help and given that his trade value was 0 after he tried to shoot his girlfriend, it was best that the Rockets moved on. The big mistake they made was trading 3 picks for a known headcase without having interviewed him first. Unfortunately, the lack of depth caused by that trade is still being felt by this team.
