theres a jimy song...experience...sorry for being ignorant to this. i have his greatest hits cd...and i love all these songs...but this one wasnt on it.... "have you ever been experienced!!"...i hear it on the radio.... thats my fav one. the guitar rift is sooo great. but i like hey joe and the wind cries mary. last time i went to DC i was talking around by myself in the national cemetary listening to that stuff. it always takes me back.
Jimi Hendrix is the BOMB!! I've become a huge fan over the past 4 months. My personal favorite is 1983 (A Merman I should turn to be . . . ). It's a weird song that has some weird lyrics (what Hendrix song doesn't?), but a kickass, unique sound and some great jamming. It's so hard for me to pick favorites of Jimi's songs though . . . "Electric Ladyland" is definitely in my top 5 CDs, and is constantly in my rotation.
I don't live today Hear my train a coming Machine Gun (Hey Baby) Land of the new rising sun Stone free Rainy day, Dream away Manic Depression You got me floatin' Third Stone from the Sun Bold as Love Burning of the Midnight Lamp Long Hot Summer Night Wait Until Tomorrow Love or Confusion May this be Love Little Miss Lover Ain't No Telling One rainy Wish If 6 was 9... to name but a few great Hendrix songs.
Burning of the Midnight Lamp It's a title of a popular book that chronicles common misheard lyrics. I'm pretty sure Ninja knows that's not what Jimi says.
I saw him in Houston everytime he played there. He is far and away the best guitar player there has ever been, and ever will be (imho). I was very lucky to be living in that time, and old enough to appreciate greatness when it was staring me in the face (and ears!). Jimi had enormous hands, and the way he handled his guitar was effortless. Don't have a favorite song or album. It kind of depends on what mood I'm in.
ahahah...once again...if i were eating something while i read that it would be on my computer screen right now. thanks for the laugh RM95...
Hell YES! I LOVVVVVVE Red House. I dig pretty much any version, but Jimi does have an excellent one. I also love Voodoo Child.
I have a special place in my heart for The Wind Cries Mary. I don't know, it just gets me in a way that nothing else does.
