Fantastic freakin' news! With "Friends" and "Frasier" gone, NBC decides its time to ante up for the greatest sitcom on television!

    Scrubs Renewed Until May 2006
Source: Variety Monday, May 17, 2004

NBC and Touchstone Television have reached a new license fee agreement to keep hit comedy Scrubs on the air for at least two more seasons, reports Variety. Before this new deal was made, NBC had one more year remaining on its deal with Touchstone.

Scrubs is now safe until May 2006. The show has been moved around NBC's schedule many times during its three-year run but has proven to be a consistent audience draw. When it aired after Frasier this season, it held on to all of its lead-in or even grew a bit.

Zach Braff stars in the hospital-set ensemble comedy, which was created by Bill Lawrence, who also serves as executive producer.

Scrubs is a great show, I like the random "thoughts" JD has. It's an ingenious idea by Bill Lawrence carried out very well (although lately the melodrama part has seemed more important than the comedy...).

That being said, it's sort of sad to see "Must See TV" reduced to Will and Grace and Scrubs. The glory days of Frasier, Friends, Seinfeld; will NBC ever reach those heights again?

You never know... they said the same thing when Cosby show and Cheers were going off the air... and low and behold, shows like Seinfeld and Friends popped up.

Just like in sports... when a great show retires, you always believe that nothing new will ever come close to being of the same calibur, but if history has tought us anything, its that there WILL be future stars, there will be future hits, and there will be more great shows for many years to come...

surprisingly FOX has renewed Arrested Development. Hopefully now they can show the real season finale that they never aired.

Scrubs and Arrested Development are two of my favorites. Great to hear they're coming back. I hope this means NBC and Fox will give them the treatment they deserve next season.

MAJOR DEVELOPMENT: Fox, which unveils its fall lineup on Thursday, has renewed its critically acclaimed (yet Nielsen-challenged) gem Arrested Development, Variety reports. The net has also greenlit struggling freshman drama Tru Calling for a second season.

Its gonna be on June 6th right after Simpsons.

Also, they'll air the pilot as well that night, and I believe, run the original season throughout the summer... to build up the viewership going into the second (and make-or-break) season.

The show is so damn good... if they gave it HALF the attention that american idol, simpsons, 24, or MiM get... Fox would finally reap the rewards of a show that the critics (and I) say beats the living s*** out of all the above shows. (of course, with the simpsons, i'm simply goin on "what have u done for me lately", not the entire spectrum...)
