I know this former ace was sent to Colorado for Pedro Astacio, but i've search numerous sites, and i don't see any mention of him. He's not on Colorado's 40 man roster. Where did he go? and could we pick him up if he's a free agent.

I believe he injured his arm before the season started and is out for the entire year.

I know this doesn't have much to do with Ealearton but maybe we should look into picking up Mike Hampton. I know he's had a terrible year which should make him somewhat cheep but I think his stuff has gotten worse because of the altitude in Denver. We could probably trade Hidalgo for him.

    Two problems with Hampton:

    (1) We don't know what or if any bridges were burned between him and Drayton / Gerry.

    (2) More importantly, there's a $100 MM contract there. If he *doesn't* get his control back, we're screwed. We have to pay him like $80-$90MM over 5 years. If he doesn't recover in Houston, he's totally untradable at that point as well.

I don't know about you guys, but I sure am glad that Elarton was untouchable so we didn't trade him and Fat Ward to get Roger Clemons.

Other reason we didn't get Clemens was that he wanted $25 MM per year which would have destroyed the team payroll. :( We were close to agreeing on the players before he dropped that little bombshell.

Elarton is done. Hampton's contract makes him done.

I am under the impression that Clemens used the Astros as leverage.
