    Scorpions, Whitesnake, And Dokken
    Updated 01:25 PST Wed, Dec 18 2002
With Axl no longer on stage, who's going to fill the big-hair, rock star void? Thank goodness for the Scorpions, Whitesnake and Dokken. It looks like the ‘80s powerhouse three are teaming up for a tour next year.
Right now, dates stretch from January 29 through February 28, but more are expected to be added.
There have been a couple of package tours like this as of late and they've proved to be a hit with fans worldwide. Don't believe us? Both the Styx/REO Speedwagon and Scorpions/Deep Purple co-headlining tours scored in POLLSTAR's Top 50 Tours at the mid-year mark this year.
Last year was a big one for old school metal bands as well. Poison, Styx/REO Speedwagon, Lynyrd Skynyrd/Deep Purple, The Guess Who, Styx/Bad Company and AC/DC all made it into POLLSTAR's Top 100 Tours of the year. Whoever said Spandex was out wasn't looking at ticket sales.
The Scorpions have been pretty busy this year. They toured North America extensively through the summer with Deep Purple and recently rocked Eastern Europe - like a hurricane, of course. Their 21-city tour of Russia marked the first time a rock band had mounted a full tour of the country.
Dokken haven't exactly been on the has-been burner this year either. Under the Metal Edge Rock Fest 2002 headline, they toured American theatres over the summer with Ratt, Warrant, and Firehouse.
Whitesnake, on the other hand, haven't seen the stage formally since 1990. The new incarnation features singer/founder David Coverdale with former Whitesnake drummer Tommy Aldridge, guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, bassist Marco Mendoza, and keyboardist Timothy Drury.

Dokken was the lamest live band I've ever seen...a cat fight would be more pleasing to the ear.

Thank you Mr Scary. I can alway count on ya to defend my beloved Dokken. Lynch had a feel that was unique even within the glossy metal that the band played. I've seen Dokken live, Lynch Mob live and Mr. Lynch at clinics live and he'll always be one of my fav's.
