I don't know how do you guys think about Scola's current situation. I am a little worried about him.

There were very few chance for Scola to shoot the ball in recent games. I think, one reason is that his teammates didn't pass the ball to him enough, but another reason is himself. He should be more brave to shoot the ball. If he didn't shoot for several times when he had chance , his teammates would forget to pass the ball to him.

In addition, his defense is too active; specailly for his fouls. I think he should reduce his defense intensity, and keep himself stay on the court for longer time.

Of course, maybe this is simply because he is too tired since he played the whole summer for his national team. He will be getting better after this fatigued period.

He is a very talented player, I still believe he will sucess in nba.

They're still working out the kinks in the offense and happen to be playing really good teams so far. Once there are some softer teams to beat up on, Scola will get more opportunities to try some things out.

I won't worry unless he hasn't shown some improvement by the All-Star break.

Its only 6 games into the season. His first 2-4 years will be an adjustment period.

It's only been his first 6 NBA games, watch his progress for the whole year and then make your judgment on him.

He'll be fine. Any player coming into the NBA will go through an adjustment period, particularly those going to an established team.

I think if someone like Yi were struggling he'd be able to use that excuse, but Scola is 27 years old and is supposed to be a polished vet who can contribute immediately.

I noticed Scola rarely gets passed to. I think RA is using him mainly to crash the boards, and expects Scola to get his points primarily by putting back missed shots.

It's foreign player adjustment. Scola's buddy, Ginobili, went through the same thing as a veteran transitioning to a new system.

Come on give him time to get used to the speed of the game...and his teamates to get used to playing with him.

I would like to see him used more WITH Yao than as a Yao replacement.

I think he's going to be a really solid player. It's a big adjustment, and he's going to go though some growing pains (he is already)

I'm not worried at all about him and I expected him to stumble for a while.

not worried at all. he is going to be up and down. he needs at least 40-50 games to find some sort of comfort zone. if he is still struggling in the last quarter of the season then I will worry. but he won't be struggling because he is a winner and he will figure it out.

Plenty of people hit their prime between 29-31.

He will be fine IMO. He just needs time to adjust to the NBA game, RA;s system and his team mates.

Why do we have a new thread made every day about Scola's current woes? It's only been 5 game!!!! Let him work out the kinks. In fact, it was expected of him to go through some adjustments at the beginning. Who does he think he is??? Yi Jianlian????

Scola will be fine. I wish everyone would quit complaining about the guy.

He is trying to get acclimated to a completely different style of basketball. It's going to take him more than a week.

Secondly, saying that the team isn't passing him the ball enough is unobservant. When he is on the court he gets some really good looks around the basket, and on the high post.

It's not like we need the guy to be a high volume shooter. If he's only able to play 8-10 minutes in a game then he shouldn't be taking more than a few shots.

When he was able to play more minutes, ie 20+, he was getting more looks and in fact they were trying to get him involved offensively. But, no one wants him to come in and take shots away from Tmac or Yao. His job is to take some of the pressure off Yao so that he can rest and when they are in the game together force the defense to stay on him.

Also, saying that he needs to cut back on defense to focus on offense is absolutely wrong. His job isn't to be a 20+ point per game scorer. His job is by the end of the season to be a stable defender that keeps Yao from unnecessary fouls and gets maybe 10pts and 10rebs.

We aren't asking him to carry a team to qualify for the Olympics here.

He will figure out the foul issue, the speed of the game, and where he needs to be on the court defensively and offensively over time.

Let's refrain from planning any "Fire Adelman cause he doesn't play Scola enough" threads eh?

Too bad there is not a method to screen members based on their maturity or IQ.

If you are worried about a rookie after 6 games into the season you need to watch some ESPN classic or maybe just get a clue.

Scola will be fine. I actually like the slow start for him. It's good that we can have Bonzi and Shane at the forward positions to close out some games. Eventually Scola will force his way into more playing time. Be patient.

He's gonna have to figure out that body contact fouls get called a lot more in the NBA than he's accustomed to. Until that time, it's gonna be frustration city for Scola most of the time.

Fact sheet for Scola this season so far:

    Min 16:36
    FG 1.5-4, 37.5%
    3pt 0-0.2, 0%
    FT 0.2-0.8, 20%
    Reb 4.0
    Ast 1.0
    TO 0.8
    Stl 0.5
    Blk 0.3
    PF 2.5
    Pts 3.2

It may take a longer time to adjust than expected.
