According to an argentinian newspaper, an NBA journalist has written a list of the five most violent players in the NBA, as an advise to the new referees. To my surprise our own Luis Scola is in this list, in the 2nd position. The complete list 1. Anderson Varejao 2. Luis Scola 3. Reggie Evans 4. Mark Madsen 5. Nick Collison
http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/09/21/for-starters-help-for-replacements-top-five-foulers-in-nba/ [rquoter] ... Luis Scola: We're talking about a first-rate badger in Scola. He's a master in terms of timing and deception. Not only can Scola commit the hard foul, but he's also the kind of player who is always pushing, nudging, grabbing, bumping, you name it. When it's about getting under an opponent's skin, Scola is a first-teamer. ... [/rquoter]
I don't think that I would consider him the 2nd most, but he is up there. He can get really physical, and it's fun to watch. It's amusing how you hate dirty players on other teams, but you love them on your team. Also, the jazz are filled with those types of players, which is why I dislike them so much, (also the playoff losses.) Happy to see Scola on the list however.
He is no where near the Boozers and Okurs,Luis hardly grabs anyone like them. He does flop a lot, though not as much as Kirilenko. Luis needs to stop that.
True dat. Matt Harpring, Andrei Kirilenko, Matt Barnes, Rajon Rondo, Darko Milicic, and many others deserve to either be on this list of have honorable mention.
i dont see how scola is dirty...especially not top 5. like the posters ^^ before me there are many players ahead of scola in terms of dirtiness. Kendrick Perkins, kevin garnett, or even artest plays more dirty than scola.
I don't understand the reasoning.. I assumed "dirty players" were the types that constantly kicked out and swung out their limbs above the neck and below the waist of the opposing player.. as well as utilizing cheat-tactics like illegal holds etc right outside an officials peripheral vision.. as has been best exemplified by the likes of Bruce Bowen.. karl Malone.. and Reggie Evans..?
I think they are talking about flopping, which I think in that case, the whole Jazz starting lineup should rank top 5
I like Scola's game but I have heard non-rocket fans talk about him being dirty. You tend to overlook things when a guy plays for your team. The only time I ever really felt it was difficult to defend him was when he viciously leveled Tony Allen a couple years ago.
Maybe they mean physically dirty. he might be an awesome player, but he does look like he could use a long shower almost all the time.
Scola shouldn't even be on that list. He may flop some, but I don't consider him violent. Besides, it's hard to think of a flopper as being violent. And as others have mentioned, where are all the Jazz players on the list?
