Scola should be our #1 option now.

I think he is a an extremely underrated low post scorer. His variety of moves, his agility made him toy with gasol in game 6. I think with tmac and yao out, scola should be the #1 option. If he keeps scoring so easily like this 1on1, i wonder if other teams will start consistently double teaming him.

I concur. When the ball goes to Scola, he has a nice combination and the result is a plus. I mean he works really hard in the post.

if scola had a left hand he'd be a legit go to guy.

right now, he's a very good role player.

unfortunately he's the best we've got left. he and brooks are a far fall from yao and tmac.

We need to keep posting him up. When he has the ball backing down his defender the Lakers flash the double or sag tremendously off of somebody. That creates a variety of options.

We also need to give Wafer the green light. He seems to be in a rhythm and Lord knows, we can't score to save our lives. Might as well see if he can shoot us back into this one.

It's world of difference between being a complimentary scorer and the #1 option.

I've been advocating a larger role for Scola all season, but I don't see him being the #1 option on a winning team.

We've got decisions to make this summer though.
McGrady, at most, will be a Rocket for one more season.
Yao may have to ponder retirement within 3 years.
Neither of them can be counted on for 82+
Artest has failed miserably to carry the load when on his own, and is proving to be as inefficient as scorer as McGrady.

Brooks shows promise, but he's an every other game streaky scorer as it stands.

Scola's rugged and dependable, but he's not going to average 20 over the course of a season.

I think his left hand has been improving.

Voted the best player ever for one of the best teams in Europe. He rarely shoots under 50%, give him 20 shots and you have a 20+ guy.

I think he needs to be the first option... off the bench. Let him come off the bench and bring the scoring punch and energy, maybe close out with him. If we can move McGrady for a 4 with length to facilitate that move it may pay off. Include Landry in the deal and maybe pulloff a Gasol-like heist.

He could be our legit post player.

We could experiment in some games where Yao is constantly shooting jumpers from 13-15 feet, while Scola works in the post.

jvg thinks odom is a better player than scola.

the op says scola should now be our #1 option.

me? scola is one of my favorite rockets personally. but #1 option? a bit shaky to say the least.

Scola is better than Odom, Scola plays hard, Odom is a wuss.....

But, Scola only goes right, and Odom only goes left, so they are similar there.

Give me Scola over Odom 100 out of 100 times...

Odom is weak minded...and unmotivated...what a waste of natural talent.

I think this idea of natural talent is thrown around much too freely. I doubt Odom's superior ball handling, passing, and rebounding abilities were with him since birth.

I actually think that Yao can develop into a more solid midrange shooter than Scola is.
Playing Scola one on one on the post is a fairly safe bet and i think that can lead to yao being a lot more durable.

maybe try a double post with him and yao. someone will be open under the
basket or for the jumper off the double o yao. if they front yao then throw down to scola who can hit yao if a defender collapses on him.

    yao
    scola
brooks(needs to learn how to pass into post)
    battier
    (insert shooter)

Here is to hoping that Scola spends his whole career with us... He is a great passer, and very smart. He almost always does the right thing when he has the ball. He is a winner. Whether he is hustling or posting up, he is going to have a great positive impact when he is on the floor, few guys can do both. He has no ego, he is a gentleman, but he wont to **** from not dumb ass.. I think he has really captured the imagination of fans around the world.. He is a true super star.. A true super star is the one who has no ego and fights and does the right thing. Mcgrady could really learn something from imitating Scola. i dont want to leave out guys like battier who have no ego also. They set a real good example of what sports are about, and im glad they do.
