Jeff Nichols did Mud and Take Shelter. It's got that Close Encounter feel to it.

Starring Adam Driver, Kirsten Dunst & Michael Shannon

    This movie was terrible.

Here's the plot: human ET phones home with beams of light out of his eyes. The end.

I watched it in the theater last night.

The ambiance and cinematography were good. Nichols knows how to set a scene. The plot was just dead boring. Nothing is explained. Things happen for no reason. Outside of a few set pieces, I was falling asleep.

Well, it's a damn shame if it really sucks, because that cast is amazing.

EDIT: looking at reviews, it looks like a love it or hate it type of experience.
