http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/26/school.conspiracy.ap/index.html yes i'm sure they were serious about this, I mean we all know that anytime a 14 year old girl says they want to kill someone (parent, best friend, the energizer bunny), we should always take them seriously.
I don't seem a problem with them taking it seriously. There has been enough precedent for them to at least look into it. If something were to happen there would be a huge outcry if they hadn't at least checked it out.
I have no problem witht hem checking it out either. The thing is they charged them with conspiracy to commit homicide.
People are stupid. "I was scared..." Yeah, whatever dude. I'm sure the Energizer Bunny was scared too. Luckily the kid that turned these girls in will become the biggest laughing stock in the history of that town. The cops may have charged the girls with a ridiculous felony, but I'd be shocked if they were ever formerly indicted of conspiracy to commit 300 counts of murder. In some jurisdictions, a conspiracy conviction is punished just as harshly as the actual crime.
