If the Texans were going to have a QB get his head bashed in. . . .
They could have went with Sage and kept 2 draft picks and 40+ Million Dollars

I think both of them are upgrades over Carr

While we can scream about the O-Line and Lack of Running game
These are two areas I think Texans could have improved with the Picks and Money

I think if they would have decided to give Sage a try and maybe Grab Kolb
in the second Round . . .. Then Get some O-line help this year
next year would be even better

This is not really a Knock on Schuab but he was expensive
and Has not shown ME that he is giving us any more than Sage would have
It may not be his fault .. but it is his problem

imo Schaub>Sage and really the reason we are in trouble is injuries. The Texans are not deep enough to withstand injuries so that's why we are losing.

I like Schaub for the long haul and it sure is nice to have a guy like Sage to step in and take over when needed.

The money is not an issue, if Schaub is the qb I think he can be than it's a good contract and as far as the picks go the qb position is the most important in football so it is what it is and the Texans just need to keep drafting well (last two years imo have been great drafts)

    That's the ticket.

(Mario needs to play better too. Some of that is on the coaching staff though....."Bull rush, bull rush, bull rush)

def backfield. If the line would get pressure on the QB it would help them

Sage has been playing during mop up time. That has inflated his stats a bit.

Schaub might be due for a week off to recover from the beating his lack of OL has given him. Start Sage next week. And then we can have a thread about how they both are not future hall of fame QBs.

The only problem I have with Schaub is his accuracy. He has a tendency to overthrow short passes and underthrow long passes. His overthrow of short passes is the direct cause for AJ's injury, since AJ had to go up and get that pass before coming down with his rib exposed and a safety charging (which caused him to do that funky leg thing). Most of his INTs have been on the overthrown short pass and several subsequent fumbles after short passes are also directly related to Schaub not hitting the receiver in the hands, like throwing behind the receiver, making the receiver spend time getting the ball to his chest versus preparing for the big hit.

I have not seem enough of Sage this year in crunch time, to know he can do any better.

I'm still happy with Schaub. Maybe I'm naive, but the way the 1st team played during the preseason along with the 1st two regular season games makes me believe that this cluster**** of a season wouldn't be happening if not for the injuries. He and AJ were looking like they were going to take the league by storm this year before AJ got hurt.

That being said, every team has injuries, it's a part of the game and I'm not making excuses. We've played like dog**** the last 3 weeks and AJ or no AJ, we would have lost all 3 of those games.

As far as the draft picks, the way I see it, it's as if we drafted a QB (Schaub) in the 2nd round this year, so we really only gave away 1 pick.

The other day a Texans fan was in line at a Houston Kroger behind Mario Williams. He proceeded to get his groceries and then the fan said "Hey Mario don't you need a help with those" he said "Nah why would I" and the fan replied "Well You've got 50 Million worth of groceries and only 4 sacks"

It is not SAGE >> SCHAUB
It is more a question is:
IS SCHAUB > SAGE + 2 2nd rouders and a boatload of Money

Those Second Rounders could contribute to this team
We can talk about the holes Texans have . .. but one cannot help but look
at what could have been if we had those picks.

Question: If Sage had started this whole year. . .what do you think our Record would be?
    0-8? I doubt it
    1-7? I don't think so
    2-6? Maybe . . .possible
    3-5? 50-50
    better - I doubt it.

Could The Texans have beaten the Dolphins and Carolina with Sage instead of Schuab?
    I think They could have.

you don't honestly believe this, do you? i mean, sincerely? you're just baiting people, right?

if you really and truly want to know why the DL isn't getting more pressure, go watch either of gates' TDs. you'll see the following: 4 DL taking on 6 blockers; two safeties either drunk or stupid - perhaps both; a CB too slow to keep up with a TE; and LBs who float in space and defend no one.

rivers threw -- not completed; but threw -- 11 passes. 3 were touchdowns.

Good lord man, calm down. If I put all their freaking needs down I would get depressed. Mario is the one thing that is starting to get to me because I've been such a homer in supporting him when in fact he has to evolve to use those athletic gifts god gave him and earn that salary. Of freaking course that goes for the rest of the team - save the dramatics for some of our other nuts posters. In fact, you would do really well in the debate forum, check it out.

    Biggest needs imo>>
    HEALTH
    OL
    DB
    RB

I would also like a DC who will blitz more. Alot more. If we are going to give up the yards, might as well make it interesting.

They should start Owen Daniels @ QB! It can't get any worse.

I like Schaub's mentality and understanding of the passing game.

But his arm strength is above average AT BEST and he is not very mobile (is that why teams have been blitzing him like crazy?)

It also appears he might be injury prone.

I'm starting to question if he was worth all those draft picks.

LOL, moes... that joke is so old it could vote... but I didn't say it wasn't funny...

How long before SAGE gets the start he needs?!?!?!? Single-handedly bringing back 29 points against the tucking fitans, and keeping composure most of the 2nd half against the chargers...? Why can't he start against OAKLAND?!?!?! How long is Kubiak going to wait? I was a big David Carr fan, saying it was the OL all the time, and we are definitely not going anywhere with the same OL... why not start SAGE? Someone explain this to me... I don't care how much you're paying EACH player... you can cut anyone at anytime...

Maybe SAGE ROSENFELS is not a PRACTICE Quarterback, and Schaub is, and that's why SAGE doesn't get the chance?
