i just got done watching 'the ring' on dvd, and remembering how scary it was when i first saw it in theatres. my god. anyways, most scary movies don't scare me. there's usually alot of gore and violence. that stuff isn't scary. but 'the ring' was different. scariest. movie. ever. so what's the scariest movie you have ever seen?
I loved The Ring. By far my favorite scary movie. I know a bunch of people that didn't like it though.
The origional Halloween. It was the first movie I ever saw that used the technique where he's not in the scene, then they do something like open a fridge door and when they close it he's there in the background. Add that seriously haunting music and I was a scared kid.
This is a good choice. Scary as... well, hell. I've yet to see the Ring, but all the hype is about to make me cave and see it. I know a lot of people won't agree, but I think Signs was a damn scary movie. Just the way that you never really see what's going on and everything is left to your imagination. Way scarier than seeing someone hacked up, etc.
Signs. I am not one to be scared of flicks but Signs was definately one scary flick. The scene where the little kids are screaming at a party and the green alien walks by real slow reminds me of the Bigfoot sightings people see or the one they show on tv all the time. To me in reality with the formation of the alien spacecraft and the attacks that were happening all around the world and yet this one little farm community seems to have gotten a majority of the invasion is spooky. If you look ahead and wonder if their are other life on other planets would these alien beings do something similiar to that in Signs.
I recently got into the Living Dead series and am now terrified of zombies. I'm actually afraid walking from my car to the door when I get home late at night now. Terrifying concept...
Nobody knew what it was when they first watched it. You probably will not admit this but, when he placed the knife underneath the door to see the reflection of what was inside that pantry, your not gonna tell me that you were not the least bit terrified at what it might look like.
Signs was a FANTASTIC scary movie! I haven't jumped like that with a date in a looooong time! The ring was a good one, also. My opinion on the scariest movie ever? Sixth sense. I know this sounds stupid, but after watching this movie, I couldn't sleep for three days!!! (Of course, it didn't help that I lived in a REAL haunted house in New Jersey) Believe me guys, ghosts are real. (And I know I'm known for being a smartass, but I swear to God I've got stories about what happened there that would make you think twice!)
The scariest movies of all time are probably Jaws, Psycho, and The Exorcist. These movies were before my time but there is no deyning the effect it had on people afterwards. People were affraid to swim in the ocean after Jaws and take showers without locking the door after Psycho. If a movie scares you so bad it changes your way of life they get my vote. My scariest movie would be Jacob's Ladder. That movie freaked my out big time.
Only 2 movies have ever spooked me. "Arachnophobia" and "The 6th Sense" After seeing the first, I was wary of all cracks, holes, and small places for a rush of spiders to come out. After seeing the second, for a few days I always wondered whenever I felt cold or was in a dark room if ghosts could be all around me.
When I was a very little kid, I was extremely scared of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I used to also be scared of any movie where some evil supernatural force would wreak havoc on everything. These would include: Poltergeist Children of the Corn The scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where they open the ark and everybody dies and especially when thay one guy just melts away (freaky!) The Omen The Shining The Amityville Horror I don't really find movies scary anymore because I don' t buy into supernatural b.s. like I did when I was a kid.
I was twelve years old when I saw "The Exorcist" at the drive in with my sister and brother. I was scared sh!tless! I couldn't sleep for weeks, and my mom was pissed at my sister for taking us to see it. To this day, I still rate it as the scariest movie ever.
The ring is by far the scariest for me... The Japanese version is even worst! Most US movies are not scary because they're too much based on unreal facts and they're treated in an unscary way, whereas the ring has that sort of weird empty yet stressing way of filming. AL(that doesn't make sens does it?!)
The Thing (Kurt Russell version), 6th sense, Communion- this movie gave me the major creeps when I was a kid kind of like the Exorcist it tapped into some deep inner fear or something. The Vanishing (french version), the first Nightmare on Elm Street.
For a minute there I thought you said you hadn't jumped on a date like that in a long time. That would be a lie.
Good one!!! That one scared the crap out of me! That damn dummy...HE'S ALIVE I TELL YA!!! Another one that I don't know the name of is where this house is full of mannequins that used to be people. They could move and stuff. Some people were brought to this house and these mannequins would talk and swarm them until they themselves were mannequins. Really weird. I don't remember it all. It just freaked me out. I never looked at a mannequin the same way after that. What about that one where a machine has become aware and takes over this house with all this security and video as eyes everywhere. Then, it tries to(or does) impregnate a woman to deliver its son so it won't be just a machine but live as a hybrid(machine/flesh) in an offspring. While doing all this...it is protecting the house and not allowing her to leave. That movie scared the hell out of me when I was a pre-teen. I used to cover my eyes. That's also where I learned "the birds and the bees"....from a freaking "machine impregnates woman for hybrid child" film instead of my own parents. My parents never talked about any of that stuff with me. It's a wonder I survived. I had to figure out all the things parents never tell you the hard or f-ed up way...like in movies. The Ring I agree with as well. I always freaked out watching The Amytiville Horror, too. The pre-discovery of the swarm nest of Aliens in Aliens was an experience. What about the one where the beach swallows its victims in sinkholes? That was a really old film which was probably ahead of its time. I wish I could nominate Event Horizon but it was so damn boring most of the time that I can't. Some parts were scary, though. I thought the script was lacking with such an imaginative story to go on. Scariest of the scary...hell if I know .
