My Brother and I recently went to see “The Exorcist” and both of us felt like it didn’t live up to its reputation. Any thoughts on this topic? ------------------
I dont know I liked The Exorcist but I did not like it as much as Poltergeist or The Omen.I love all The Omen movies!A recent movie I watched that few might have watched is In The Mouth Of Madness. ------------------

The Exorcist (the original one from 1975) is easily the scariest movie ever made. Of course you had to have seen it when it first came out to have gotten the full effect. Nowadays, with all the blood and gore, kids laugh at it. Others: Jaws Phantasm 1 & 2 Halloween ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. ITS ALL ABOUT POLTERGEIST!!! ------------------ Starting at shortstop, for the Houston Astros, Nomar Garciaparra. or Starting at First Base, for the Boston Red Sox, Jeff Bagwell!!!
Although I preferred the book to the movie, I have to say "The Shining" was one of the scariest movies I've ever sat through. I had to read the book for a college english course (I know, tough class, huh?) and I was so freaked out I slept with the lights on for weeks.
Ok call me cheesy, but the very first Nightmare on Elm Street scared the bejesus out of me. The whole concept of a bad guy who gets you in your sleep lead to many a sleepless nights after I watched it the first time. Alien. Halloween are some others. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
LOL and amen, Rocket95. Halloween Poltergeist Alien The worst: Every sequel to the above three The Haunting Scream/Urban Legends ------------------ Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me...you.
Finn is right, you had to have seen The Exorcist when it first came out. For me, I was a 12 yr, old, watching it at a drive-in movie. Scared the s**t out of me. I didn't sleep for a week. My mom was soooo pissed at my sister for taking me. ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet [This message has been edited by Behad (edited October 12, 2000).]

For me, I'd say 1.Halloween 2.Shining 3.Jaws 4.Psycho However, as a consensus, I don't know how you could keep Jaws from being number 1. If a whole Nation was scared to go into the Water you have seriously freaked the crap out of some people. I've never heard of a movie having that kind of impact. Psycho must also get some respect. i don't know anybody who doesn't shiver when they hear a noise in the bathroom. ------------------ humble, but hungry. Jaws? Jaws? You guys are kidding right? That was a very comical attempt to make a scary movie about a shark with some sort of intelligence and an appetite for revenge. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I dont want to sound old {I`m 34} but the movies I saw in the late 70`s early 80`s were much scarier than those of today. My top picks 1.The Shining 2.The Exorcist {at the drive-in} 3.Jaws 4.A Clockwork Orange {I had never seen anything like that and it scared the crap out of me} ------------------
I'd have to go along with homedude from Scream 2 and say that Showgirls was my favorite scary movie... Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was also extremely scary. I didn't chew any bubble gum for weeks after seeing that girl turn into a giant blueberry... ------------------ If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!!
The Exorcist and the Omen movies scared me to death when I first saw them when I was about 14. Blood and Guts movies have never really had much effect on me.....I need Satan to really freak me out. The Changling was another good scare. When that wheelchair starts after that lady down the stairs......damn {{{shivers}}}. ------------------ Hey, I've got a new signature! 302 [This message has been edited by Lynus302 (edited October 12, 2000).]
uh, Night of the Living Dead the first Friday the 13th, particularly the scene where Jason jumped out of the water. Aliens scared me when it first came out. I've always hated movies with killer dolls. They are just scary. I don't keep dolls in my house. Shining. that's all I can think of for now. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, lies, and heypeeisms. -DrofDunkingDonuts
