I am selling something on eBay and I received a message from somebody wanting to pay me quite a bit more money than the item is worth. Here is the message I received: Is there a scam runnning around the Internet that is using this setup or could this be sincere?
They send you a counterfit payment. You take it to the bank to cash it. Bank doesn't catch it for a couple weeks. They have the product and you're screwed.
If the internet has taught me one thing it's, Don't trust people from Nigeria. No offense to Nigerians, but the scammers have pretty much ruined their reputation.
Paypal or not, they can still send out bogus "email confirmations": http://www.joewein.de/sw/fraud-western-union-bidpay-ebay.htm You might say that you'll never get fooled, but it's best just to not bother with these guys.
This isn't a scam i've done this a thousand times -- make sure you include your bank account info, social security number, and cash (if possible).
(cheetahs live in Nigeria + don't trust Nigerians) = don't trust KingCheetah I need someone to do a proof of the above for me.
But you must trust KingCheetah. He has been unjustly deposed and only needs some money to bribe a bank official in order to gain access to the millions that have been taken away by the other cheetahs. Your cut is 40%. Sound good?
Shouldn't payment clear first, before item is shipped for international sales. Seems like a no-brainer. But then again...
AHHHH...............SCAM! I'm constantly getting these crappy email asking me to give them my name, address, pnone number, bank acount number, etc. ! JUST DELETE this junk!
Have him put the money in an escrow service OF YOUR CHOOSING and then ship it once you confirm the receipt of funds. Apologize for making him jump through hoops but say it is your SOP for international orders. If he won't do it, it was probably a scam.
Obviously, you haven't all read "Reverse Scam" by this dude: http://www.geocities.com/steerp1ke/David_Ehi.html Or these here dudes: http://www.reversescam.com/
If you use credit or Paypal in your transactions, you'll get your money back 95% of the time if it is a scam.
