Has anyone here had scabies before? I haven't been able to sleep the last two nights because of itching throughout my body. I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed a few microscopic bugs on my phone (which was next to my bed). I don't know if these are scabies mites or something else. I've never had bed bugs but from my research they are larger than scabies. I washed my sheets and found no signs of bed bugs on the mattress. I've made an appointment with my doctor but wanted to see if anyone could provide any input.
They will form little red bumps on your body. Usually it starts on your fingers. You need to go to the doc and get some medicated lotion, which will kill them.
I got scabies from a trip to Alaska. The pain was very peculiar, spots would sting and echo in a decreasing fashion.... I know that's weird but it's a common and symptomatic description. It's easy to kill with an all-over cream. I never saw 'bugs'.
You noticed microscopic bugs? After waking up in the middle of the night? You don't have red bumps on you yet, but you're worried because of ^^^ that you have scabies? Man, take a benadryl or something and relax, get some sleep, and talk to your doc if you're worried you have something.
And you REALLY REALLY don't want scabies either. I had it as a kid. I had some very itchy nodes on my genitals and armpits. It's pretty miserable. I put some ointment on and killed off the mites. But, the node in my armpit would flare up for years after whenever I might wear a tight shirt (though I'm told the mites were still dead). But, how did you conclude you had scabies if you haven't seen the doc yet?
Had scabies once as a teen, they're freaking horrible. As I recall there's a cream you have to apply all over your body and you have to wash everything ie sheets, clotches really well.
Went to the doc. Couldn't really diagnose it as scabies because I don't have any rashes or bumps yet. He prescribed the scabies cream, which I will try tonight. Hopefully the itching subsides (whatever it is that is causing it). Thanks for the input everyone.
My sister in law got scabies from a seat on a Continental airplane coming back from the Caribbean 10 years ago. She had to do the full body cream stuff.
Although it's unpleasant, scabies is pretty easy to treat. I'd take it over bed bugs any day of the week.
It's not uncommon to do so. It's a one-time treatment, so if you have it, then you've treated it, and if you don't, then no harm done.
