call 1-877-722-3755 for dsl for $14.95 a month, even if you're an existing customer, ask them for the $14.95 a month and they will change it to the lower price.
Too slow. Plus with roadrunner you can get vonage to get cheaper phone. In the end, it will still be cheaper to stick to cable.
For most consumers, DSL speeds are just fine. They don't transfer gigs of p*rn. I have 3 Mbit/sec d/l speeds on DSL which is more than enough. I get it for $29.99/month + taxes/fees. Verizon is testing out 15 Mbit/sec DSL in various parts of the country now. Also, Vonage works with any broadband connection - not just cable modem. In other words, it works with DSL, too.
40, but I really like it. In 3 years I have never had any problems and I have a great connection. I am weary of change. But the extra money would be cool and I guess I could switch back... What about installation charges etc?
I just went to SBC's site. For the Dallas area, they advertise 1.5 Mbit/dl DSL for 14.95/month. The 3.0 MBit/dl is $24.99. I think I need to make some calls... hehe. Check to see if your area is included : http://www01.sbc.com/DSL_new/content_new/1,,18,00.html
Really? Because I figured since the phone companies run DSL that they would not want people to get services like vonage.

Unless something has changed recently, you cannot get SBC DSL service without having SBC phone service. SBC announced earlier this year, that they will be testing "naked" service that allows you to get DSL without phone service : http://news.com.com/SBC+plans+to+get+naked/2100-1034_3-5698066.html?tag=cd.top
Yeah if someone can confirm that I can still get VOIP services (vonage) with this SBC thing then I will holla at them today.
For you guys signing up, bend over and take it from SBC. Have fun w/ the hidden charges and the rising phone costs. And their customer service....might as well make the phone calls to India, Afghanistan, etc. yourself. You'll get better service there. Bunch of morons that have no clue about customer service. Ridiculous.
I'd call and ask. Maybe they'll charge you for the DSL modem. They'll almost certainly charge you with a DSL setup fee. I think they were waiving that setup fee when I got my DSL. Ask them if they can waive that fee and then you'll switch.
Oh, no. SBC DSL and SBC phone service are a f**kin' marriage. Their DSL I had no problems. SBC phone service was hell.
