...and then the Lakers storm back and win it back the season after that, and maybe again the next season. Will Sacramento have done anything significant? I think that would cast LA in an even greater light because it would prove there was a worthy opponent out there and they beat them more times than not...
gb - Do you honestly think Shaq is going to be dominant for 3 more whole seasons? Personally, I don't. IMHO, if the Kings win it all next season its a major signal of things to come.
well unless you've heard something about dick bavetta retiring, we won't have to worry about this scenario coming to pass.
At this point, I have no reason to believe that he(Shaq) won't be dominant. He's only 30. There wasn't anyone this year that stopped him while he had the hurt toe, what makes anyone think they can contain him at 100%? Kobe will be 24, or is already, and continues to improve each year. The rest is just details. Webber is a panzie, Divac likes to cry, and Keon will now face a western conference that is full of big men...especially PFs and large SFs.
Age has no meaning for Shaq. He has three years left on his contract, so he'll most likely play the three years out and retire. Basketball has always been more of a "job" for him, and he has never hinted at playing into his late 30's or 40's.
Thank God. And I'm saying that for Shaq's own self-respect. Looking at the aging Ewing and Hakeem makes me sad. And Mutumbo...that just weirds me out. I hate that guy.
Agreed. As long as the Lakers have their big three of Shaq, Kobe, and Dick, they are nearly unstoppable.
Shaq will be dominant until he shrinks to about 6'8", And is down to about 250 lbs. The guys skills aren't that high that if they deteriorate it will hurt his game that much. As long as he's big and wants to play he will be dominant. But if the Kings win, then yes they've accomplished something major. If they don't establish a dynasty or many dynasty that doesn't diminish the fact that they won a championship.
Now, what you guys should be talking about is the OTHER LA... the Sparks. Houston won the first 4 championships, LA won last year, but Houston's best player, and the MVP of the league, Sheryl Swoopes, was injured all last year. If the Sparks don't win this year, their championship will mean less than nothing: it would be like beating the Bulls without Jordan.
Well if Webber goes to jail for lying to grand jury NO RING Shaq sits out longer than expected and never really recovers from his toe injury this season NO RING Rockets then have the advantage.... Hey I can dream can't I
Goodness, GB. What a stretch. Can't you just say I just wuvv my wakers... when you get a worthless, fixed title handed on a silver platter, incribed, "Wuv oo - Dick"; the only honorable thing to do is throw it in the trash. It should make you sick. Didn't you ever see "Saturday Night Fever?" Tony couldn't take no race-bait trophy! That's sick! Post some photos or something. That's what you do best. Really, you get the best pics, but the worst possiblelaker and chicago homerism.
Wow GB, you'll do anything to hype up the Lakers. I thought you were a Bulls fan? And the Kings would have done something significant because they won a championship. And it wouldn't cast the Lakers in a greater light. The Rockets won two championships between the Bulls reign and it didn't enhance the Bulls championships. And the Lakers, Bulls and Celtics were going strong during the Pistons championship runs but it didn't enhance their titles. If anything, the Kings winning the championship adds a luster to the Kings title since they went through a 3-time world champion to get it.
