In todays' hoopsworld daily, it point out that the Rockets are already 3 deep at the point, and are still looking to add another. It also mentions that the Rox were frustrated by Moochie's slow-down style last year. It then speculates as to whether the Rockets are looking to unload Moochie, and promote Maddox or Brown....

    .....opinions?

Considering the source, I'd say this is HIGHLY speculative and bordering on all out wrong.

The King of Dribble Mania! I would be surprised to see him go, considering he is our main Point Guard Backup. If he stays he will need coaching and reminders each and every game,so that he will move the ball up the floor as quickly as possible. The Rox will need the time for second chances to shoot since Cato, Yao Ming and Griffin should get us a lot of rebounds.

They can't trade him, he is one of the poster childs (billboards). What, are they gonna cover him up with - Tito Maddox? ;)

Hmmm. Cavs need a point guard, but Lucas wants somebody who's really gonna run with the rest of their young legs. Unless Rudy is really impressed with Maddox, I'd bet that MN will be around for a while longer.

Considering that Francis is our back up two, I think second string pg is a very important position for us. I certainly hope to see less three guard offense due to less injuries and new players, but still we need a competent back up point. I can't completely ignore the possibility of headaches and injury to Franchise. Steve really makes me nervous by how often he hits the floor. I love the atitude, but I fear injury.

I liked Tierre when he first played, but he seemed to decrease in productivity as minutes increased. I don't mind him as a "stir it up guy off the bench", but I am real uncomfortable giving him more than say 5 minutes a game. I felt he could drive, but didn't seem to lead the team. Maybe it was becasue he was mostly in with the scrubs, but he has not yet sold me.

I have real high hopes for Maddox. I think he will continue our string of good second round picks. But I would not put myself in a position wher I had to rely on a rookie. Any rookie, much less an unproven one who seems to make bad decisions.

Maybe in desperation, Catino slides over to fill in the point, but that can't be the long term solution.

I feel about Moochie the same way I feel about Cato. He is the best we have till somebody else proves they can do the job.

All that being said, I think he is a highly tradeable comodity. Usually KT is thrown out there as trade bait, but Moochie plays a harder to fill position, and is signed to a long term contract.

I understand trade value going down if there is no playing time, but I could see Moochie and the KT/Taylor looser being a nice trade package next year.

Me thinks Moochie must have been a massuese in his previous life. How else can you explain him constantly massaging the ball? I dont hate the guy personally, but he pisses the crap out of me when he starts dribbling and dribbling and dribbling and dribbling.........

Depends, I guess. No Moochie billboards have gone up, right?

I don't see Moochie going anywhere, especially because we would have to find a player in trade we actually need.

It'd be nice to get Damon Jones (Houston native?) in here, though. Just no place for him.

imo, Mooch is a fine backup.

imo, it wouldn't be a horrible thing if Mooch was traded, depending on the player(s) we get in return.

imo, hoopsworld is full of **** and makes things up.

    that is all.

TRG is talking out of his arse again. Moochie aint going anywhere unless we get a comparable SG to trade him for.

    Jumain Jones for Mooch???

iono but i like Moochie.. he may be slow but he can cross some great defenders over and find the open guy.. Moochies freethrows are kinda low but i think he is a nice backup for Francis... but if the trade goes down for Jumain Jones.. I wouldnt mind... Tierre and Maddox can probrably fill it up.I heard Maddox is projected to be better than Jamal Tinsley and Tony Parker if it wasn't for the issue last year for him.. but uhh thats my opinion. :D

Better than I could have said it. I'll add that I find the following assertions unlikely:

That the Rockets are looking to add another guard. This is the first I've heard of it.

That the Rockets are frustrated by Moochie's style of play. He doesn't play any differently now than he did before he resigned. If they don't like it now, why did they like it so much a year ago?

That Moochie has a 'slow-down' style in the first place. Moochie sometimes burns a lot of clock waiting for a play to develop, but I would call that slow-down. Slow-down is when you never look for the break.

That they are looking to unload Moochie. Right after they signed him?

That they'd consider Maddox or Brown as a viable second-string guard. Maddoxx is a second-round rookie. Brown showed some promise, but didn't ever beat out Moochie. They may prove to be good PGs in time, but it's quite a gamble on an important position.
