say 'cheese' -- Jerome James now a Yao fan http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/05/03/09/100spo_sonicnotes030905001.cfm James was known for belittling Yao after their first encounter in Yao's rookie season. Look at the respect now he has for Yao.
Yeah, I kinda remember James being negative on Yao and I always thought he was kinda of a punk @ss, but it's cool how he's seems to now respect and credit Yao more.
BTW, if you can, you might want to change the thread title because I thought it was Mike James you were referring too.
LOL! That's so funny, James always talks about Yao before and after the game, I hope he is a straight guy.
haha that was funny. I think alot of people respect Yao. He is nice, humble and beats you fair and square. Remember Shaq said the same thing that Yao plays him the right way. They just play like men not the whole draw charges and flop thing. J
James mispelled the word in his head, so he stretched the "e" extra long when spoke to the reporter, who simply wrote down what he heard. It's all on James!
Looking at that picture, I have to wonder...who in the NBA has the highest release point on their jumper? (out of players with good jumpers, I'm sure that Shawn Bradley has a high release point) Nowitzki? Garnett? Yao?
It's weird how you guys are talking about how James respects Yao more this season than last season. The article clearly states he asked Yao to pose for a picture with him last season. Not last night. It appears he respected Yao last season too.
If you mean the highest point when the ball left hand, it got to be the tallest player (+longest arm), Bradley. If you talk about shooting high (shooting form), then it's between Garnett and Yao. Nowitzki doesn't hold ball that high, where his shooting hand almost touches his head. Yao's shooting form is higher than Garnett, but KG has a better jump to make up that difference.
Probably Yao. But I think TMac gets the most elevation on his jumpers. The guy gets off the ground so quick and high on his jumper. Even the Seattle commentators seemed amazed at how he shoots.
But did you see in the Utah game, TMac went up for a jumper, and the ball got swatted into the 5th row by Andrei Kirilenko? AK47 also did the samething this season on a Kevin Garnett's fadeaway. And last year, he swatted Yao's jumper like 6 TIMES IN A SINGLE GAME! That was freakish!
I guess Jerome James didn't realize that our point guard, Mike James, had two more rebounds (6 total) than did Yao (4). I like Yao offensively...somewhat more than most of the time, but his defense, which includes defensive rebounding, is spotty at best. When Shaq gets "held" to 22 pts., the defender did his job. When Yao scores 22 pts., his opponent wants an autograph. Go figure.
