Al Pacino's Inch By Inch speech from Any Given Sunday I don't know what to say really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble. Inch by inch play by play till we're finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen believe me and we can stay here and get the **** kicked out of us or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time. Now I can't do it for you. I'm too old. I look around and I see these young faces and I think I mean I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make. I uh.... I pissed away all my money believe it or not. I chased off anyone who has ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That's, that's part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out that life is just a game of inches. So is football. Because in either game life or football the margin for error is so small. I mean one half step too late or to early you don't quite make it. One half second too slow or too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in ever break of the game every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that's going to make the ****ing difference between WINNING and LOSING between LIVING and DYING. I'll tell you this in any fight it is the guy who is willing to die who is going to win that inch. And I know if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch because that is what LIVING is. The six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes. Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. You are going to see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it, you are gonna do the same thing for him. That's a team, gentlemen and either we heal now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's all it is. Now, whattaya gonna do? ROCKET RIVER
Every team is injured during the regular season, it's a bad excuse to have for not playing well. It gives you perspective on just how stacked the Warriors are that they can have KD and Curry injured at different times and still dominate their opponents.
Capela needs to be the nasty guy out there. Like DeAndre Jordan .. just throwing down nasty Ally oops and blocking **** left and right but instead ... He's soft. He's a 7 footer who likes layups. He has no defensive timing so he is a bad shot blocker. He gets his stats by being spoon fed easy buckets. Attitude starts from the paint out.
I dont think they are soft to be honest. They are just not smart both offensively and defensively. Its like we go out there with no scouting report. The one big problem i have seen flare up lately is the lack of spirit. They just expect to win instead of wanting to get it, and that doesent work in the NBA. If you watch GS(since thats who your obsessed with), sure they shoot alot of 3s, but they work to get it(screens, running a play away from the ball handler). Our 3s come from nothing usually unless its a drive and kick when the defense collapses. You cant just run P&R all game and expect teams not to adjust. We need the playbook to expand a little beyond that. Movemant off the ball is lacking bigtime. It didnt show before because harden is just too damn good. He is probably the best P&R player in the history of the game because he can do it all. The defense is whats most worrying though. easy buckets all game long, giving them what they want instead of forcing them into the shots we want. Again GS work on the defensive end to get the transition open 3s. We are never in transition anymore because we cant stop anyone. Not even a team with Tobias as their star. Stupid closeouts every game, just no recognition of how to close out without giving the frickin easy drive. No body control whatsoever. The potential is there but i think we are still a move maybe even 2 away even with the beard and luc back. I hope DM feels the same
I'm sorry guys, but I could not name two legit players on the Pistons Roster. This loss stings I don't care our shot selection has to be questioned from time to time.
Their Defense is SAWFT! You can use all the technical terms and explainatiosn . . but it comes down to SAWFT!! Rocket River
I don't think it's soft . It's more like too tired to do anything . A bunch of vets sounds great for the playoffs ... But no young legs in combination with MDA running older legs into the ground means that we are gonna go through stretches where younger teams just out athletic us . First lakers game was the prime example . Tonight we had some scrub go off on us becuase our D was too slow. It's the speed at which we do things that is killing us right now ... And I think it's easy to see that as "soft" and a lack of aggression ... I just don't think our guys have it in their legs. Hell , we might have it for 20 minutes .... But no way do we have it for the full 48 . And we have to have it for the full 48 , because MDA will play you for 40 ****ing minutes .
The Warriors are like the end boss in a video game that has all these extra life bars compared to everyone else in the game. They already had a couple extra compared to most teams but Durant joining them basically just added a couple more on top of that. So they can spare a few players and still be tougher than all the other teams.
Every game I wonder who the next scrub (or worse, scrubs) is that the Rockets are going to make look like a superstar. It's just sad at this point.
Sign Deandre Liggins. Gave Curry fits with 7-0 wingspan and former D League Defensive Player of the Year.
