And the answer was a big no-no, both from the Magic and Outlaw´s agent...

But it sure is a great idea.

What about Ben Wallace? Any chance we could take the exception we offered Croshere? He´s unsigned and the Pistons are all over him.

I would take him over Croshere without a doubt. Just imagine Wallace and Rashard, what a frontline... if Cato develops as he should we would be back in business for sure.

Sounds a lot more likely than getting webber next year, which seems a lot of wishful thinking in my opinion.

    Thanos,

Take it one step further. The Pistons are all over Ben Wallace as you said. Notice that if they like him that much, it could make Jerome Williams expendable as they are similar players. Let's say the Pistons ink Wallace and Tim Thomas; the Rockets could then offer them future considerations ie. their pick back for Jerome Williams. The Rockets have the 4.5 mil trade exception so they could use part of this to eat his salary into (2.93 mil).

Ofcourse this is assuming that they dont have something else planned for the 4.5 mil trade exception.

Jerome Williams would fit in nicely too. We need someone with fire in his heart and jerome could fit the bill nicely.

We need defense and rebounding at PF.

I don´t think that scoring should be a major concern.

Specially since the west is loaded with quality PF´S that croshere would not be able to handle defensively.

I would rather have Lewis as SF and a defensive stopper at PF than Croshere and Lewis.

Not that Croshere should be dismissed, i just don´t see him as an answer to the 4.

Croshere is definately not the answer at 4, because he is not quite there on offense, and not quite there on defense or rebounding. major tweener.

Croshere is better than any power forward we have. I would rather have him than Kenny Thomas.

Croshere is a much more talented and complete player than either Ben Wallace OR Bo Outlaw. No question whom I would pick given the option.

Croshere is a third year player and is now coming into his own. He can do so much more than Wallace and Outlaw. Plus, he is still very young. He will only get better, and what he brings to the table now is a drastic improvement to what we have.

He may be a better OVERALL player, but i just don´t see him matching up with webber, duncan or garnett very well.

Wallace and Outlaw, on the other hand, would be able to slow them down offensively.

Webber, Garnett, etc. cannot be stopped nor contained by anyone in a one on one situation. The key is team defense. Croshere has some size and strength, and as previously mentioned, is very adept at boxing out on both ends on the boards. I would be much more inclined to snatch up Croshere and let him improve on his defense, then pick Outlaw or Wallace....two players that are one dimensional and likely will never develop any offensive skills (with the exception of put backs and garbage buckets).

Wallace and Outlaw are also horrendous free throw shooters. I just cannot see picking those players over Croshere. It just makes no sense. Now, Outlaw in addition to Croshere would be great.

    good, because Bo Outlaw sucks.

decent scrub, but nothing to get excited over.

    Same for Wallace.

Crisco, no one is claiming Outlaw's a superstar or even a star. But, he's a solid role player and would probably start ahead of both Walt and Kenny. You could say the same thing about Mario Ellie, Robert Horry or Kenny Smith before our championship season, they were nothing to write home about. But they came through and filled their role. Outlaw, would do just that. He's nothing to write home about, but to say he sucks is just a tad on the ignorant side, IMHO.

I noticed no one has brought up Marcus Camby's name in a while. So I will. We all know New York has him reportedly on the block, and I feel he would be a significant boost to our frontline. Problem is, who would we give up?

    I understand Azim.

I have watched Outlaw play, and I get disgusted seeing post after post suggesting outlaw would be a good starting 4 or 3.

he is an excellent BENCH player. IMO.

I like Camby, but I don't see how he would fit on this team unless Cato is traded or Cato improves his offense drastically.

a tad? you dont have to hold back on me Azim. I don't mind. [IMG]

Hi guys? Bo Outlaw? Ben Wallace? Major need of a PF for our rebuilding?

    Doesn´t that ring any bells?

    LOL

Someone mentioned Adonal Foyle a while back. I looked him up on NBA.COM and thought he'd be an intriguing pickup if he could play the 4. Has anyone seen him play? Is he a true 5 or could he make the switch?

i personally think Bo Outlaw is one of the most underrated players out there and would be one of the greatest pickups we could get...

i really dont even care that much about rashard or cuttino.. although granted the fact that both of those or either would be nice...our team is steve francis and olajuwon..we need players like outlaw to do the dirty work and I think he is a great great piece...

i agree with azim that we need those type of mario elie type players.. i completely disagree that outlaw sucks..i dont know who or what you are seeing if you say that...

I am seeing Outlaw playing basketball is what and who I am seeing.

At least Mario Elie had a jumpshot.

I would like to have Outlaw too, who doesn't need a banger and weak side shot blocker? But my point was Outlaw vs. Croshere. There is just no contest there. Croshere is worlds better than Outlaw....hands down.

Outlaw is very one dimensional and has no offensive arsenal. Croshere is a good all around player and can improve on his defense each year.

    Crisco,
I've noticed you've taken a lot of flack the last few days, so I thought I'd go a 'lil easy on ya. [IMG]

I don't know much about Foyle, except he is big and and can play physical. But if we're looking for a guy that can score consistently in the post, I don't think he's our guy.

    HOOP-T,
I agree that Croshere is much better offensively than Outlaw and is more versatile. However, you can always find a player with his offensive capabilities. But finding someone with the defensive ability and mindset of Bo Outlaw is, in my opinion, much more difficult. Plus, Outlaw is much cheaper. The ideal situation would be to get both, as they are both tremendous team players with an endless amount of energy and hustle. If they both weren't tweeners, it would realistic to get both.
