George Carlin weighs in on efforts to save the planet. This is a YouTube video, and it contains some "language," so consider yourselves warned. In any case, it is hilarious.

In this performance, Carlin focuses on endangered species and certain environmental hazards. Mixed in with his presentation he has quite a few surprisingly wise words for all of us. I think he is on to something here:

The wisest idea in that clip (didn't watch it this time, I've seen all of Carlin's stuff dozens of times) is that we aren't endangering the planet, just our existence on it.

That is why we need to be concerned about the environment. If we aren't, Earth will become uninhabitable for humans, which would even be bad for conservatives. ;)

Your first sentence is consistent with Carlin's message.

Your second sentence is your own commentary, and has nothing to do with Carlin's presentation.

You have proven basic reading comprehension, I agree with your analysis.

The fact remains that we need to take care of the environment or this planet will "shake us off like a bad case of fleas."

So people who have the gall to deviate from leftist notions of political correctness are banned from the Clutchfans message board?

Even the suggestion of that is totally pathetic. In fact, any person with any true sense of open-mindedness would be embarrassed to have that be known.

    Alrighty then.

Uh, sorry to get in the way of your unwavering persecution party, but more lefties have been banned/run off than conservative posters (and they deserved it too.)

The fellow running this place, bless him, is right of center, as are some of the other mods (R2K comes to mind.) But they're pretty balanced in only banning people for behavior issues, not beliefs.

Okay, please get back to the persecution party. This board, the POTUS, the media, most of the planet, and a new genetically altered breed of super-liberals with claws... they are all pretty much converging on your address right now. :(

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I am kind of new around here, so I do not know the tone of the administrators here yet, other than they are more tolerant of personal attacks between posters than I am accustomed to elsewhere.

Deviating openly from leftist notions of political correctness is the only basis that anyone around here would have for banning me. So when I read Sam's statement that I must be a former poster, I inferred that people of my political views tend to be thrown off of the board for those views.

Your post was informative, and I will take your word for everything you said. Thanks for sharing your insights on this.

Sincerely, no problem. Sorry to acuse you of tinhattery, though I did have fun with the genetically engineered liberal line.

I just don't want new people to mistake the majority of liberal posters with a notion that the board is run with a liberal bias. I very truly would not post here if that was the case.

You know who pisses me off? People who don't "believe in" global warming.

That's fine. You don't think the world is getting warmer. I get it. But don't use your disbelief as an excuse not to contribute to saving the environment. The whole global-warming-isn't-real-so-I'm-not-gonna-recycle thing is absolutely r****ded.

What other reason is there for not believing in global warming? Why not believe it? What do you gain by disbelief?

(not accusing anyone, just posing a general question)

No, people who have the gall to deviate from the exceptionally loose definitions of decorum and civility that are applied here in the D&D will be banned, generally just from the D&D unless they also act douchey in other forums as well.

dude, I am with you 100%

I don't buy into the man made theory of global warming. But, recycling is not that hard. If nothing else, it keeps costs low for your favorite(s) producer of goods, and *sigh* the environment.

It is important to differentiate between "global warming" and "antromopomorhic global warming" (or AGW for short).

Anthropomorphic global warming is the man-made part. That is really the only part that is disputed, and rightfully so.

As far as "global warming" goes, the Earth has been warming and the Arctic ice sheets have been melting since the last ice age. Here is a depiction of what the Earth may have looked like around 12,000 years ago:

Clearly, the Earth was colder then, and it is warmer now. The observation that the Arctic ice cap is melting is an observation that goes back around 12,000 years. Nearly all of the melting that has occurred, occurred prior to the industrial age (which goes back less than 200 years). All of the melting that occurred prior to the beginning of the industrial age is obviously not "anthropomorphic global warming".

And now, over the last 10+ years, the Earth has actually cooled a bit. We are not at all time highs even within our lifetimes. Here is an article from the BBC on the topic:

    What happened to global warming?

If the effect of CO2 that has been and is being pumped into the atmosphere is as compelling and dangerous as the AGW alarmists suggest, then how is it possible that the Earth has actually cooled over the last decade? If you take the predictive climate models used by Al Gore and his associates at the United Nations seriously, then we are in a state of crisis, the situation is dire, the need for corrective action is urgent and their is no time for delay.

But truth be told, none of these predictive climate models used by Al Gore and the UN predicted the cooling period that we are now entering. But here it is anyway. What are we to make of that?

What these people have been preaching to us is not real science. It is agenda-driven propaganda. Once again, the Earth has certainly warmed. But the so-called science surrounding the claims of the AGW alarmists is weak and not sufficiently substantiated to warrant betting our economic futures on. There needs to be a lot more work done on this.

I suggest you pay to become a contributing member so you can get the search function. Then you can search for all of the stuff that you just wrote and find the threads appearing nearly bimonthly for the past decade that get created where all the Republican talking points you've just regurgitated are spit out like some new revelation only to get shot down.

Frankly, I think most of the people who at one point would have put forth the effort are simply two tired to repeat themselves again. I know I am. But if you really are interested in the actual real honest-to-god scientific truth, it has been articulated here more times than I can count.
