As I remember, Yao seldom takes 16 footer from the top of the key. There was one in Hawks game and another one vs Timberwolves probably. And Yao made both of them. Big guys usually don't wanna come out and challenge the shot (BTW: Yao can drive to the basket like Dirk if he gets the opponent to the air). Shaq doesn't like it also. Yao actually had many open look but he didn't take them. I don't think it's because of the worry on rebound coz Yao's favorite fade-way jumper also gives up offensive rebound. I'm wondering whether Rudy is hiding this as Yao's secreat weapon against Shaq... Imagine...Yao makes the 16 footer, another... finally misses one.. wait Eddie robs the Offensive Rebound over Walker.... How sweet!
Why would you hide it? It's not like they won't ever play against each other again. I think Rudy's just working things into the flow slowly. If he wanted to hide it, he wouldn't have had Yao shooting the 1 or 2 jumpers he's shot at all.
i don't think rudy or yao are hiding anything. yao just doesn't look comfortable shooting from the perimeter in games yet. his turnaround doesn't look very good at times either. but taking a step out of reality i hope yao is hiding something and start raining shots from the perimeter on shaq's fat ass.
I think yao's turnaround jumper isnt falling, because he's getting roughed in the post and pushed out too far.....I sure do wish he would use the jump hook!
I think that if Yao takes more jumpers, then he can fake a shot, get the defender in the air, and drive right by them. He can do it. He drove right up the middle one time when nobody could get open, and I think it was Mason guarding him, poking at the ball. Yao just drove right by him, spinning, and passed it off. The crowd was stirring on that one, waiting for a basket, but he passed it up. And don't forget that last drive from the corner all the way to the rim. He's showing more driving skills than EG.
