I bought a Sirius receiver that has the option of plugging into a boombox, connecting to a stereo, or broadcasting a (weak) FM signal that can be picked up by any radio. I'm cheap (I didn't want to purchase the boombox ($100...yeah right) nor do I have a stereo with an acceptable connection) so I listen on a radio off the FM signal. Right next to the receiver the sound is great...I moved the radio around the apartment and I can still pick up the signal...not much distortion. Is it theft for my neighbors to listen? We came to the consensus that stealing unprotected wireless internet is theft but what about satellite radio transmitted on a FM frequency. There is no way to protect it unless making a direct connection. btw, I wish I knew what station my neighbors liked so I could jam their favorite frequency with polka or some crap
I remember back in the day when I could pick up many apartment cordless phone coversations on my old boom box. That was cool.
