OK...just wanted to get your opinions... I have been a DJ on Sirius Satellite radio - The Beat from the beginning. I was also a regular on the now defunct Remix channel. Recently, they have asked me to produce a one hour show on fridays 5pm EST where I will have total control and can even put guest djs on. HOWEVER... I have been approached by XM to join their stable of djs on BPM. I won't have a regular shift but will be part of their rotation. XM has more listeners than Sirius...but...I've been with Sirius for a while now and they are willing to give me a regular time slot. Money isn't the issue...so i just want to get your opinion.. do i stay with Sirius? or do i venture with XM?
Stay at Sirius, that way I have an excuse to listen to something other than KidStuff. Seriously though, is your show on the Beat? I will have to check it out this afternoon.
I have had both. XM is by far the best. Couldn't live without it to be honest. From what I hear, Sirius has some financial issues that might be a problem in the future. But so does XM just to a lesser extent since they probably have double the listeners and are projected to double that number by 2008. If you are looking for future growth, most insiders predict XM will come out ahead and maybe even buy Sirius sometime in the future. You can do alot of that mumbo jumbo analysis at CNBC.com if you are a geek about it like me.
XM is in trouble right now. With the addition of Stern and having all of the major sports except for MLB, Sirius is in a great position to prosper. Meanwhile, XM is offering half-off service deals. I'd stick with Sirius. btw, Congrats on the really cool gig.
I've had both, prefer Sirius. By the way.....asking an opinion about that here is about as logical as asking opinion about XBOX vs. PS2....people seem to hype what they have. When are you on The Beat now?
i've also heard that XM is some trouble financially. i'd stay at sirius, the growth potential there seems greater.
Stern isn't bringing the crowd he thought he would. XM may be in financial trouble, but I don't think for long, and I also think Sirius is in some too. If it was a clean start, XM or Sirius, I'd go w/ XM, but job security would be my greatest concern, so Sirius seems like the logical choice.
That giant contract that Sirius offered Stern is going to bring the company down...But money isn't an issue...
All I gotta say is XM has the portable players that will make iPods quiver... lol. I'm seriously getting one of those things if the reviews come in good. Sirius has nothing to compete with them. Of the people I've talked to who have tried both Sirius and XM, more have said they enjoyed XM (not by a huge margin, but...). I've had XM for a couple of years in my car now and love it. Switch to XM Rich... I'll support ya... unless you play Buck Owens or Minnie Pearl remixes or somethin'...
I have a show on xm 66 raw.. I like it but If I were you I would stay with sirius, because you have been there. I know soon enough xm and sirius will merge in due time one of them will go
Clear Channel is an investor in XM. Do you need another reason? PS. Can you please send me a Sirius lanyard? I love Sirius!!!
