Sarah Palin threatens to sue entire internet via Twitter

For anyone who wants to read it here is the four page letter released by Palin's attorney that started all of this.

Through her lawyer, Palin pre-emptively threatened to sue news websites for slander in the event that they falsely report that she is under federal investigation for the construction of her house by the contractors who built the Wasilla Sports Complex. The lawyer then explains that the Alaska branch of the FBI stated that she is not under investigation.

The lawyer was annoyingly partial in naming what he perceived as liberal news organizations (no mention of Fox News or Washington Times), but the slander case would probably stick.

Wonkette's jab that Palin threatened to sue the internet is misleading, as is her unnecessary labeling of Palin as a "racist" at the end of her insult-laden blog post. Seems like kind of a crunt.

I don't know anything about it beyond the "actual malice" bit they harped on in journalism, which this doesn't seem to rise to - but it's entirely possible pouhe knows something I don't.

i'm sure you're right, just not for the reasons you're hoping. she has killed any chance of her running and winning public office. unless it's the mayor of a town with 8,000.

 

Of course I disagree, she still is a political threat. Otherwise, there wouldn't be the attention.

If Palin captures the primaries though her base and moves some moderates and Obama doesn't do all the right things, then she has opportunity.

Now she knows the media game better, the rest is up to her and considering her history of political success (i.e. you don't become Governor by accident), and enhanced experience of the campaign game, she may surprise some here....

 

so, when rod blagowhateva and eliot spitzer resigned mid-terms, the media coverage meant they were still political threats? not because it's a media story when a governor resigns mid-term?

If she positions herself as the persecuted voice of the anti-abortion movement there is no end to the amount of play she can get. Self-righteous defiance is a pretty easy emotion to whip into fervor anyway and then throw in dead babies.

The defense of the 'rule of law' will pale.

 

Looking at the earlier photos, you can really tell how much work she's had done.

 

Even if there isn't a federal indictment, I'm not sure the citizens of Wasilla like rumors that their sports complex was overpriced and saddled them with debt.

No, I don't know anything. And I shouldn't have said the slander charge would stick. I meant that hypothetically, in the event that the news organizations reported in the future that she was under investigation.
