I'm moving to Houston in May and I have a part time position with Sara Lee (factory) here in eastern NC, and I was wondering if Houston has any?

    From the Yahoo! Yellow Pages...

    Sara Lee Bakery _
    15534 W Hardy Rd # 240, Houston, TX 77060
    Phone: (281) 820-5599

I don't know if this is a "factory" or not but it is the only Sara Lee listing in Houston that is related to the baking industry.

Actually I see it all the time back when i went to U of H. It was on a side street where I took the back way to school, its a pretty old building and its on a bad side of town, so good luck on that.

Actually I maped it on Mapquest, and thats not the one I pass by. I looked Sara Lee up on Yahoo Yellow pages and got this address:

    235 N Norwood St, Houston, TX 77011
    Phone: (713) 928-6281

We are talking about the Sara Lee that does bakery goods and sells them in the frozen section right? They make the greatest pound cakes I have ever tasted. Cause if thats the one, I know for sure that this building is a "factory" cause I see the Sara Lee logo outside the building.

Yes, that is the Sara Lee I am talking about. The one I work at has a very nice facility. It's' been here about 20-30 years but the maintenance on the building has been fantastic. It still looks as if today were the grand opening. I'd love to see how big the one is in Houston. Sara Lee's website sucks so badly. They don't even have a locations site where you can search for locations of Sara Lee's in each state.

For years I thought their jingle was "Nobody does it like Sara Lee." But just recently I found out it actually is "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee." Nobody doesn't?!? That's awful! What kind of grammatically challenged fool puts a double negative in a commercial jingle?? I cringe every time I hear that song now.

Htown, if you continue to work there, please talk to them about fixing that. ;)

I would if I could... I don't even get free food. It doesn't pay off to work there. I work in the ovens and I get dehydrated fast and when I'm on my break I always get a drink, the drinks ae $1.10 each. Cheap f*ckers.

Dude, they produce HOW much food there every day?

It's easy, man....You take some cargo pants to work and stash a crumb cake in each leg pocket...that's ten crumb cakes a week....Trust me, they won't miss them. Considering that mass produced stuff has a half life of about 5,000 years, you could get a good stash of a couple hundred crumb cakes and we could have a big party...

do the factories run around the clock? Hell, we could break in there at night and bake up a batch....

You have to think outside the box. :)

... or outside the cake in this case.

This jingle thing is shattering my world. I had always enjoyed the "Nobody does is like Sara Lee" lyric in a Beavis-and-Butthead adolescent sort of a huh-huh-huh way. Now I can't laugh at it like I used to. :(
