http://www.nationalpost.com/sports/basketball/story.html?f=/stories/20010209/470275.html NBA TALK: Reef wants out, but now - According to the Vancouver Sun: Disgruntled Grizzlies star Shareef Abdur-Rahim, tired of too many losing seasons, says he wants out of Vancouver. 'I'll put it like this,' Abdur-Rahim, the subject of frequent trade rumours in the last six weeks, 'If you go in there and talk with [Grizzlies president] Dick [Versace] and they're honest with you, they know how I feel.' Has Abdur-Rahim, a member of the Olympic team, asked to be traded? 'Yeah. And that's where I'll leave it.' Abdur-Rahim hopes to be shipped out by the Feb. 22 trade deadline, adding 'I'll be a professional and play ... but I'll be disappointed if I'm still in the same bad situation.' . I wonder if that pippen legacy dumping scenario is still alive or not... Just in case, the welcoming party is all set up and waiting for our prize to arrive... i´ll keep my fingers crossed for this one. With Reef and a focused Dream, we could make some serious noise in the playoffs. ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
Great, where do we sign? ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
We sign were it says: Rockets Take 'Reef and Give Walt/Cato [and our sympathies] to Vancouver. Rocket River ------------------
Before TheFreak comes in to claim hypocrasy, it is great to see other teams fail to keep their players happy. The game includes management vs management not just players vs players, and Vancouver is losing this game. The Rockets organization is top 5 in the league in winning the player management game. And I am hoping we get another BIG windfall for being such a classy organization. There is no hypocrasy in feeling glad that Vancouver could not keep Shareef happy, and feeling fortunate that Rudy spent the Olympics with him. I must admit, I am a bit afraid to make this trade now. Granted, giving up Cato and Wiz for Reef would definetely be great in the long run... but I am hesitant to condone any changes during this current hot streak... As Bull Durham said, "A player has to respect a streak, you know why? Because they don't happen that often." ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Homer Simpson
Cartman, what the hell are you talking about? The time is now....the winnig streak is nice, but the break is upon us. Who's to say we won't have a greater win streak with the acquisition of SAR. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Just as long as he's stoked to play from the bench. He's trade fodder for the summer if the Rockets acquire him. He certainly doesn't need to get in the middle of the good thing that's going on now. ------------------
MAKE the Deal. . . TRUE HE WON'T WALK IN STARTING but over time maybe. . . he could be the 6th man of the year Him and moochie - SUPER SUBs Rocket River ------------------
Hmmm, interesting. Seems the Grizz have gotten better offers though for 'Reef lately, but lets see if the Rockets don't get involved again. I haven't heard anything now for weeks... but I wouldn't have made this graphic then if we didn't atleast have a decent shot. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET

Do you think that Vancouver won't trade with us becuase they afraid of looking like the Rocket's Farm Team? [like the CBA use to be until everyone started copying us] Rocket River ------------------
While this three game winning streak is very impressive, I wouldn't stand pat if it meant we would miss out on a player like SAR, especially if we kept our cap space in the process. If you've learned anything about the Rockets this year, you should know that a three game losing streak immediately after the all-star break is just as likely as extending the current winning one. ------------------ "Knickerbocker Please!" visit www.swirve.com, coming January 20th, the top 10 films of 2000! http://www.geocities.com/clutch34_2000 for great Rocket insight by some of your fellow BBS posters!
I know people are afraid this would hurt our chances of getting Webber, but assuming we don't get Big Country (which the chances of that are dropping now that Vancouver has to move Reef), or we can't find a taker for Reeves in a 3 way deal, I would DO IT! Keep in mind, even if we get Rahim, the Rockets would still have a chance to get Webber because of Dream's salary slot that opens. And if Dream wants to come back, the Rocks have his Bird's Rights. GET RAHIM NOW! ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .
Sure, go ahead and compare the laughing stock franchise of the league, where a talented player like Rahim has been confined since the beggining of his carreer to The rockets and Houston where Olajuwon is loved and happened to win two championships! Your statement is laughable! ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
I´ll take that as a compliment, Achebe ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
Walt + Cato = Rahim doesn't work according to realgm. but i did get this package to work: Maurice Taylor (or Shandon Anderson) + Carlos Rogers + Dan Langhi + Walt Williams ------------------
if you could get that to work outlaw you should have also been able to get: walt + carlos + dan + matt bullard. in that scenario, I'd ask that they waive matt bullard though (he'll clear waivers unless the bulls or the clippers pick him up) and then you'd be set. ------------------
