Well... the Rockets are turning into your worst nightmare, both Bad AND Boring!!! No news flash here... but the biggest problem with the Rockets offense remains the point guard. DM has to know that you can't win a championship with a point guard who shoots less than 40 pct. The numbers don't lie. Find me a team who won a championship with a point who shot that low. You can't. Even Jason Williams who's been dogged recently on the board, shot over 40 pct the last 4 yrs, including the Heat's championship run. We simply can't run out a pt guard who shoots like Rafer on a consistent basis. We all knew that was the key to getting this team to the next level. Didn't we, DM? Until Moneyball Morey makes a deal, it's a no-brainer that AB should play the majority of the minutes at point. The offense flows way better. There's more energy. Quite simply, there's hope for a better tomorrow. He'll struggle defensively but I have to think the trade-off is worth it. If we continue to go with Alston 35 or 40 a game, I will quit watching! Who wants to watch a team that's both bad AND boring? If it's Andre Miller, Anthony Johnson, one of the Seattle guys, or player unknown, DM has to find a point guard who can shoot. This isn't brain surgery. As Bullard likes to say, "it's as simple as making baskets." Point guard is the one position that has a domino effect. Some of our other deficiencies won't seem as bad if we get the right guy. Get a point guard soon or you can pretty much start talking lottery, rebuilding, Texans draft and Astros spring training. This can't wait till the trade deadline. You've gotta make a move now, Santa Morey!!! It's now or never!!! You can still save Christmas!!!
Im all for starting AB until or if we trade to get someone better, or if Steve wakes up from surgery.
Morey did a great job this summer. I don't think anyone predicted that the entire roster was going to lose it's ability to hit shots overnight. Also, I was never on board with JVG getting canned but I never expected Adelman to be such a worthless coach. By the end of the summer, I felt that Rick could very well be the guy to get this team over the hump (even if the real reason was all the added talent that JVG never had). You can't blame Morey for what has become the perfect recipe for implosion. I do, however, expect this team to start making bold moves if things don't take a big turn for the best before the All Star break. By bold I mean everyone not named Yao is on the trading block.
I like everything Morey did except signing SF3. I never saw how that would work. I have a lot of confidence in Morey if only because the guy got Scola from the Spurs for nothing. Scola will be a nice piece to the puzzle when he gets more consistent and learns what an NBA foul is.
guys PG is the problem, shooter is the problem, injuries..... there are so many problems in any other teams there is really one biggest problem for us a team can't have two leaders, maybe trade one of team is good move, but it is hard. so, both management and coach should, and do it now, to make sure who is leader of this team. IMO, the man should be yao, reduce TMC shoot and play him at PG some times, we would be fine
if i had a wish for the rockets this year i would ask for a couple of mid season trades that bring in legit 3rd and 4th scorers. 1. shane and rafer to miami / jwill to memphis / mike miller to houston! miami and houston obviously like this deal. memphis will be loaded with PG's and takes a huge step back telent wise, but they will be able to offer a max contract next summer after this deal. 2. james, snyder, first rounder to phily for andre miller. another talent downgrade for our trading partner means a talent upgrade for us. another long shot, but hopefully they are drawn to the first round pick for a guy who's over 30 years old part of the trade.
thats about the most sensible "best outcome possible" deal there can be. miami could use a Jason Kapono type outside shooter but they also miss James Posey's defensive presence. they'd basically get back a Jason Williams with Rafer, and also and gain a younger James Posey with it in Battier. and houston would get much needed RELIABLE firepower! "would" is the key word though.......
that was my thinking. battier and rafer are exactly what the heat had is posey and wiliams. rafer would also make a return to miami where he was the 6th man on that cinderella team which made the playoffs lead by odom, grant, wade, etc... i'm pretty sure in that 3 way deal tha memphis would only have 2 reservations. 1. they wouldnt want to help a division rival. the answer to that of course is that if they are looking to clear cap space, they aren't looking to win this year anyway. and miami would wather have our package. 2. they would have way too many guards. williams, stoudamire, conley, navarro, lowry. i'm pretty sure we can pickup stoudamire to fill our need for a starting PG (after rafer trade). ending contracts like snyder and steve help even more with the cap space plan. a future pick should be enough to swallow sending good players our way. plus, wouldn't you rather have mighty mouse mentouring brooks than rafer, james, and steve?
Why won't the KIngs just do this trade? Sacramento Kings Incoming Players Kirk Snyder Salary: $2,358,433 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 4.0 REB: 1.5 AST: 1.0 PER: 15.18 Shane Battier Salary: $5,883,600 Years Remaining: 4 PTS: 8.3 REB: 4.6 AST: 1.5 PER: 9.99 Rafer Alston Salary: $4,550,000 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 9.3 REB: 3.2 AST: 5.0 PER: 11.97 Mike James Salary: $5,826,893 Years Remaining: 2 PTS: 7.6 REB: 1.7 AST: 1.8 PER: 11.20 Luther Head Salary: $1,122,000 Years Remaining: 2 PTS: 5.9 REB: 1.6 AST: 1.4 PER: 12.51 Houston Rockets Incoming Players Mike Bibby Salary: $13,500,000 Years Remaining: 2 Ron Artest Salary: $7,400,000 Years Remaining: 2 PTS: 19.3 REB: 6.1 AST: 4.4 PER: 17.78 Outgoing Players: Kirk Snyder, Shane Battier, Rafer Alston, Mike James, Luther Head Life would be so much easier!
I'll tell you why Sac won't do it... because they would be getting raped royally! Bibby is due back in 2 weeks and they are very happy with Udrih as a backup PG and possible starter eventually. Plus, you are taking away two of their studs (B. Miller is too injury-prone and not what he used to be and Kevin Martin is still a role player despite his impressive numbers) and giving them a bunch of average crap in return.
People need to realize that X number of worthless players do not equal one useful player. Snyder + Head + Alston + Carl Landry + Deke + Battier + Brooks + Chuck Hayes+ Mjames + SF3 does NOT = Kobe Bryant
