I found these in NBA Live 2004 as part of the Hardwood Classics collection, are the Rockets planning on having them next season? I would say they looks pretty nice!
But back on topic, when it comes to retro jersey games...I just don't think that 95 jerseys should count. Why not sport something like this? The Hawks wore theirs and got more pub than the Rockets ever did. At least work with the jerseys they had with the goofy guy blasting off with a jet pack and leaving behind a trail of "Houston Rockets." Those would draw some attention.
I hope the Rockets don't wear those next year, those are just terrible. DallasThomas- Ya ATL did get a lot of pub for their jerseys, but I also think they got voted the ugliest jersey too. But it would be nice for some more pub for the Rockets. I hope they wear the 95 home jerseys. I think those would end up being one of the best selling ones, especially with T-Mac on the back.
We will be doing a throwback jersey next year ... but not the San Diego one. We'll be doing the original Houston Rockets jersey, the one BEFORE the championships. We did the championship jerseys in 02-03. We'll probably bring them back again sometime in the future. But it made sense to go all the way back to the team's first days in this city and pay some homage to those teams, and it's a look that people haven't seen in a long time. The problem with the San Diego jerseys was that you either have to alter them to say Houston, which means they're no longer "authentic" throwbacks, or you keep them as "San Diego" which would be endlessly confusing. Unlike the Minneapolis Lakers situation, most fans aren't even aware that the team started in San Diego. Tim
Tim, any idea how I can go about finding a San Diego throwback. Also, I think it would be cool to wear the San Diego throwbacks. Maybe at a pre season game or something. It would educate some fans out there. I don't think it would be that confusing to the fans. I think it would be cool.
Tim, the white San Diego Rockets home jerseys show "Rockets" on the front, so it won't be confusing at all.
Rudy looks a bit like Henry Winkler (the fanz) or however you spell it. And/or, John Travolta in Grease.
