They are up by 31 points against Denver in the 2nd quarter. I'm predicting they sweep this series from here on out. Too much talk about how good the Rockets are right now. If the Rockets were playing San Antonio, McGrady would not have had a chance to hit the game winner on Monday night. Don't forget that San Antonio kicked our butt in the forth quarter WITHOUT Tim Duncan the last time we played them. The championship goes through teams that are better than Dallas.
The Spurs are good..but the Nuggets are struggling. There are still times when Nuggets can't play correctly lol..Camby is like their only bright spot right now..they're just not making their shots. The parts that I saw..Nuggets were screwing themselves over by playign bad defense and not scoring. Huge drought. But I do think the Spurs can beat the Rockets. They're just a really balanced team really good at all positions. We at the 4 have no one to help Yao against their big men and all their little men attacking...but maybe who knows..I hope we make the W. Conference Finals and face them..it'll be fun. Maybe Ryan Bowen can do a lot
Nuggets players are bunch of stupid fools. They thought they already stole the home court from Spurs and this is the so called "free" game. There are no free games in the playoff! Especially it is against Spurs! It is a huge confidence boost for Spurs and Duncan got his rest. I hope we Rox learned lessons from Nuggets.
in all honesty, who actually thought the nugs were gonna pull out the series upset? look, i hate the freaking spers, hate em, but they aint losing to the nugs. period. san antonio is as solid a team as there is in the league, and they're still my pick to go all the way. people are soooo quick to jump the gun when stuff like that happens.... i mean, the spers missed something like 17 straight FG's in the 4th Q last game! when was the last time they did that???? never, that's when. and i bet it doesn't happen again (unless they meet up w/ the rox ) the spers weren't gonna just bend over and take ut from the nugs. this series is over in 5, IMO.
shouldn't be the other way round? game2 of ours compare to theirs? we came out strong like we wanted more. they acted like winnig 1 game was all they needed to do. i love the rockets so much.
The Nuggets are going to be first round sacrificial lambs for years to come if they don't get a real center...
It's one loss. The Spurs certainly looked like champs, again, but Denver still stole 1 in San Antonio and are back in Denver, with home court advantage for the moment. I wouldn't write them off quite yet.
Bingo. I never predicted the Nugs would win this series, but it's hardly over yet. The real test is seeing how we respond for game 3.
Are you concerned about the mental approach of this team at all? I watced Kenyon's pissed off responses to answers, he was basically pleased that they atleast won one game. "Did you expect us to win a game here?" Not exactly the attitude you want, probably why they got blown out last night
I think the Nuggets loss had nothing to do with what the Nuggets did wrong -- that they had the wrong attitude or approach or game plan. I think it had everything to do with the Spurs refocusing and playing some take-no-prisoners playoff basketball.
Very. I wouldnt' say Kenyon was pleased that they at least won one game. He was pretty pissed. He was just trying to get the reporters off of his back. That said, we find out what the team is made of on Saturday. If they come out fired up, a la game 3 against Min last year, we're gonna take this series to the brink. If they come out flat again, we're screwed. Gonna disagree (obviously). Everyone keeps pointing out how SA played awful in the first game. Um....we didn't exactly tear it up either. Yeah, SA only made four shots in the fourth quarter, but if I remember correctly, we only made 6. So far this series, the Spurs have shown up for one game, and we've been absent from both. But it's 1-1. And we have the next two at home. I'm not ready to say it's gonna happen, but the Nugs could legitimately have a 3-1 lead next Monday.
I still think that the Nugs have a chance at beating the Spurs. A major factor in the series is Duncan and his health. A healthy Duncan points to a strong advantage towards the Spurs, but playing in Denver and it's thin air, the Nuggets forwards really need to play physical and stress Duncan out on both end of the floor. Whether the Spurs make or miss a shot, the Nuggets should fly down the court as quick as they can and really add relentless pressure on the Spurs.
I didn't say SA lost Game 1 because they played poorly, only that they won Game 2 because they played exceptionally well. I give Denver their due for taking one in San Antonio. The Spurs wouldn't have missed 19 in a row if there weren't defenders on the court. But, man you got your asses beat in Game 2. It wasn't that y'all didn't try, you just got completely outplayed. Admit it and try again in Game 3.
Denver is going back to the best homecourt advantage in the league. But they need to keep the Spurs from keeping the games in the halfcourt - all defense. Carmelo needs help getting his offense - Bowen's a little to effective on him at the moment. Run him off more screens. A second straight sub-15 point game with 5 fouls and 3 TO isn't a good sign. I still consider Parker, not Tim's ankle, to be the biggest key in this series. He can be a hero for SA, and he has also shown he can be their goat. Game one, 5 TO, and was torched by Miller for 31. Game 2, he only had one TO and Miller was only 2-8 (11 pts). It's tough to take Tim out of the game, but Parker is a different story - and getting him out of sorts sends SA's offense into disarray. If I were George Karl, this is where I really push the Nuggets to play college ball. Full court harrasing pressure and run with all horses. He's already playing a 9 man rotation, so rely on the bench to keep the intensity high without burning out after 3. But again, you can't run without getting stops, be they steals or rebounds. Evan
I didn't mean it to seem like you were the one saying that the Spurs lost game 1, not the Nugs winning. I apologize about that. As for admitting that we got our asses beat in game 2, I've never denied that. Crap, hard to deny it when you lose by a number that's way too high for me to deal with right now. All I know is that I have tickets to games 3 & 4, and the Nugs are undefeated to playoff games I go to.
This series has nothing to do with Denver. They are a 7 seed. 2 seeds lose round 1 when 2 seeds don't play to their potential. Regardless of gameplans, adjustments, etc...if Spurs show up & play, they win. Last night was no fluke, nor was game 1. Spurs blew teams out in half the games they played this year, and played "close" the other half - winning half of those. The Spurs NEVER played good and lost (except maybe McGrady's "magic" game - the Spurs looked O.K. it that 1, but came up with the L).
See how the Spurs do when they are sucking for air in Denver over the next 2 games, if they lose them...they are done. DD
Has Denver ever had anything LIKE the greatest homecourt advantage historically in the NBA?? I have been a fan of the Spurs for over 25 years now, and have never quaked in my boots at the prospect in Denver freaking Colorado! Salt Lake City back in the day, the Kings were tough at home, as were the Lakers, Rockets, Orlando, Detroit - hell, lots of teams. BUT NEVER DENVER! If the altitude were that big of an advantage, wouldn't you think it would have manifested itself in at least a division title at some point in the past decade and a half? Spurs are better; Spurs will win.
All the nuggets have to do is keep it close and the spurs generally choke. They are just not that good in close games.
