On Samsung's site, the only difference between the two really is the dynamic contrast ratio.

    the 61 has a 10000:1 and the 65 has a 15000:1.

The philips really has nothing as far as "professional reviews" on it. But it looks like just about everyone who has one loves theirs.

Have any of you had experience with these TVs? How did you like them?

Can you post or link pictures to these TV's? It'll be easier for people to help you out.

I would go with the 61F if it is considerably cheaper than the 65F. You will love that LCD. You'll see...

i would go with the samsung based on their reliability. i think it would probably be better to ask the folks in the avs forum if you want a break down on the pros/cons.

i have a samsung lcd monitor from 3-4 years ago and it's still perfect. i purchased a samsung lcd tv last year and have no problems. for the price, quality, aesthetics, picture quality, over all, i don't think samsung can be beat.

I bought a Samsung LCD this summer and I love it. I haven't had a problem with it yet except for when my roommate accidentally threw a football at it. No damage at all though.

nothing is wrong with the philips, but the samsungs are definitely better lcd tvs. philips is ok if you want a really small lcd for your bedroom etc. they look nice.
but for a main tv, go for samsung.

Hate to disappoint you but, no, I didn't. I have a quick question for you though tinman. Whenever I turn on my tv, it takes a few seconds for it to load up. Is that normal? Anyway I can make it turn on faster and not have it lag so much?

Sorry to derail your thread GraingerGuy.

Do those remotes include every function imaginable? You have the Sony, so for example- does the button that cycles through "vivid, custom, and movie (I think its movie)" have an equal on that remote?

    What are macros?

yes it has 100% of all the buttons and functions, they show up on the lcd screen on the remote, you can page through them.

the macros are the first things you see

What is the price they're going for these days? I picked up the Samsung 4071 a few weeks ago when it temporarily sold for $1450.
