This thread is dedicated to the SamFisher vs Trader_Jorge debate. This started in another thread but I believe it deserves a thread of it own. RULES: The topic is "Has the Bush administration helped or hindered the US from developing alternative energy sources" The loser is banned from posting on Clutchfans for 30 days. You must post a link for any evidence used to back your argument. (please make sure you read your source throughly before quoting it...) Keep it civil. No cursing, name calling, scratching, biting, or pulling hair. You will each have a maximum of 30 posts to make your argument. This is a debate between SamFisher and Trader_Jorge. outside observers keep your opinions to yourself until they have reached their post maximum. Upon reaching their post maximum, there will be another thread for clutchfan members to vote for the winner. Sam and TJ, do yall agree to these rules?
Keep working on the rules. Given that the board is overwhelming liberal, they will vote for ShamFisher regardless of the nature of the debate. Plus, I'm traveling over the next week and will not be available to put forth much effort here.
Not debating whether SamFisher is right on this issue, but why would TJ agree to this? Even if he gives the better argument, 90% of the posters disagree with him and at least 60% of the posters outright don't like him. He'd have to be stupid to accept the rules when it's stacked against him. It would be like the idiot in survivor giving up his immunity idol when all the people were laughing at him knowing he was going to go home.
it should be voted on by a panel of 5 members 2 liberal, 2 conservative and one moderate. I will accept the moderate position.
Yeah, I'm sure they'd be down with it... This thread is a cleverly disguised 'let's get rid of t_j' thread.
I think we should all agree on what sources are permissable. No sources allowed that are clearly biased or propaganda mouth pieces (i.e. HUffington Post, Fox News, Blogs, NY Times, etc...) Empirical evidence and primary recources are encouraged. Let's judge this like an academic debate.
Sounds like its a no go...I agree, most of the people on the board are liberal, for whatever the reason...
most of the people on this board aren't liberal. they aren't social liberals or fiscal liberals. glynch is liberal. deckard imo is liberal. batman jones is liberal. beyond that most people on this board are moderate. texx, basso, tj, and roxran are right wing. most people on this board don't follow gwb and that's why most people on this board are labeled liberal. because you didn't support the war in iraq and never did doesn't make you a liberal. it really has nothing to do with being liberal.
I agree, I would like government to be more fiscally conservative and use money wisely but I do not want social conservative government telling me what I should or should not do.
