While other teams are making dramatic adjustments, the Rockets, well, we got a new coach. Is he going to play? How many of you want to see the same team from last year out on the court at the start of the season? New uniforms, new stadium, new coach, same old product. Count me out, if the team doesn't make some adjustments to the current lineup, many of us (customer-fans) are going to be seriously unexcited.

This team needs an infusion of talent; we need a serious banger, a playmaker, a sharpshooter: my word, we need some help if we are serious about competing in the West. Who is with me? Can a new coach completely and dramatically turn around one of the dumbest most boring teams in basketball in a matter of months without some fresh feet on the court? NO!

I feel the Rox will make some sort of trade to try and upgrade this team. Given our history we will try and make some sort of splash. I hope its a Power Foward we trade for and to the playoffs we go.

We have plenty of talent, we need direction and chemistry. That is why our best pick up of the off season was a defensive minded coach. We will make the play offs next year and I guarantee you that the Rockets are a team that no one wants to face in the first round. We are a team that can give anyone a run for their money when we have our crap together and that is why JVG is here, to get our crap together.

everyone wants something big..alot of trade rumors from sheed to Eddie Jones,i like stackhouse, but thing is nothing might happen, but maybe a few guard freeagent pickups. But Guess what i heard a local sports writer saying the rockets wIll pull the trigger for a trade this wednsday to add to make those 2 freeagents work better into there system. Rumor is that
Lamar Odom might be a rocket! Supposely he lives here and hangs out here and hes sick of traveling so much, and he wants to play with Francis.

    Odom 4 Mobley, Norris

Thats the trade! hope it happens here in 3 days. Crossing fingers.

Dude are you still on this board after all the harassment I have been giving you? I have to applaud your persistence but I also have to add that I am going to have to step up the campaign. If I were you though, while my thread count was still low, I would start over with a moniker that didn't include cuss words and just make my first one hundred posts responses instead of new threads. I also would give up on the dream trade ideas. I mean, you would be a great GM in bringing Garnett and Odom and Stackhouse to the Rockets but we like to try to focus on what might REALLY happen. I'm glad you are a Rockets fan, but lets think about the Rockets here and not the Western Conference all-stars.

I love Rudy T. and all and hope he gets much better and healthy real soon, but let's not forget how bad he COACHED this team over the last few years. He tried to guide them, but he failed to coach them, which is what they really needed. Personally, I realistically can see Van Gundy adding 5 and optimistically 10 (especially if Yao continues to improve) wins to the team. That will get you into the playoffs and on the right path.

I still firmly believe that what wins in sports is the best team, not necessarily the best player (see the Patriots, Angels, Spurs, even the Bulls or ore recently the Lakers - think Shaq and Kobe would have won three straight without Robert Horry, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher - I don't). You need talent for sure, and Francis and Yao provide that. But you can't just go out and make trades randomly just because you feel like you shouldn't be standing pat.

As far as I'm concerned, we were successful in the most important area as far as the team as a whole is concerned this offseason - getting a new coach (something I thought was 99.9% unlikely going into a new arena with new uniforms, etc. for at least another year). Now, if you can make an acquistion/trade that is obviously helpful, you do it. But, I highly doubt the Clippers have been calling up saying how about we give you Brand if you give us Cuttino Mobley and some throw-ins. The Rockets are working the phones, you can be sure.

The most important thing is to work on the team, it's identity, it's style, it's strenghts and weaknesses, etc. How can you add pieces when you don't even know what you've got?

This is what this board needs to remember about this off season. JVG is our best pickup. We needed a philosophy change. Anyone can look at our team and see talent. We will devolope chemistry, identity, and form a cohesion. That is how the Rocks did it for their first championship and that is how they will do it for their next.

    ya man... that would suck....

that would suck so bad for LA they wouldn't do it.

Not even think about... which is why it is pointless to discuss.

I ain't hating, just learning ya boy. We'll get ya all polished up before its over with. Hang in there.

Please don't tell me that you believe that. What crackhead GM would trade Odom for Mobley & Norris?

Guys, I appreciate your responses, BUT, this team DOES NOT have enough talent to make the playoffs in the West. We don't have enough shooters (players that can consistently hit baskets), defenders, or rebounders. We need more intelligence (JVG will help), more maturity, more experience on the court. Coaching will help but transformation with the current crew is IMO, unlikely.

We have now been through years of disappointment, boredom, and frustration. The Rocket's DARK AGES must end soon. And Mr. Waaaaaah, see if the same group puts fans in the seats. This is an entertainment business, and the current Rockets are ANYTHING but entertaining. I just don't want to see them play anymore. But I still love the Rockets; I just want new players in the new uniforms.

So Stackhouse just got arrested, and Odom gets arrested about 2-3 times a season. These are the guys you want on the team? You may not like Mobley, but at least he stays out of trouble!

your saying the rockets don't have what it takes to make the playoffs in the west? Last year with rookie Yao and a terrible offensive system the rockets were 1 game out. I guarantee the rockets make the playoffs. I would put money down on it, (if i had any). The question should be what seed the rockets will get this year not if they make it.

Don't worry man, I've got a realiable source that told me Jason Kidd, Jermaine O'Neal, Gary Payton, Lamar Odom, and Elton Brand (The Clips won't match) were all signing with the Rox, splitting the MLE between them, just because they've always wanted to play with a center like Yao Ming.

Jordan and Magic will be coming out of retirement to sign with us for the same reason.

Mooch will be going to SA for Tim Duncan - they figured he was the closest thing to Jason Kidd they could get. Oh yeah, and the Lakers are trading Kobe and Shaq to us for Cat and Eddie. But just because they think Carrol Dawson is such a nice guy, they'll give Cat back to us for a 1st round pick in the 2021 draft (they figure T.J. Kidd is the next Jason Kidd).

It won't matter though, because after the league has seen this team play for a week, they'll all forfeit the season and award the championship trophy to the Rox. Werd.

This line up got us to within one game of the playoffs, and that was with bad coaching (sorry Rudy-lovers, but it's true), the horrible ISO offense, and a rookie center just off the plane from the other side of the world.

JVG was the best pick up of the off season and we should keep the roster intact* until we see what he can do with it.

*except (you guessed it) we need to cut Moochie

Solid, it sounds like you don't like the Rockets at all. If you need some big splash to make you stay a rockets fan then you shouldn't be a fan in the first place. I'm not trying to start a fight but damn man, judging by your last two posts it sounds like you hate this team.

While not the most eloquent address, this is the true spirit of a Rockets fan. I can accept optimistic trade ideas that might help the team, but totally calling the team crap and wanting to dismantle a team with a lot of promise is simply someone frustrated and taking it out in a useless manner.
