DUDES-and dudettes-, Over the past few weeks, even months, I have started to notice that companies that do commercials use the same actors for their products or services... I remember faces well, so it's not a surprise that every now and then I surprise my wife or someone in the room and say: "hey! Isn't that the guy who comes out in that [inser Product or Service name here] commercial?" Here, then, are a few examples: "What's in your wallet" dude who does the Capital One commercials with David Spade is also in the "Get your NFL Gear" NFL commercial and the new Enterprise "moose!" commercial. [PUNCH!] Sonic commercial dude, the one with blonde hair who is always on the passenger side on those commercials is also the dude in the MIDAS commercial with Fred Flinstone. He ain't no MIDAS technician. The "They're statues!" dude from the Domino's Pizza is the same one from the "There's no crying in Shipping!" commercial for DHL. There are countless other actors who get RE-casted and casted again in commercials, and sometimes these are played back-to-back, and make you want to do a double take. I know, I know, worthless thread, but I am wondering if someone also saw this like I did.
lol i dont really take the time to notice these things, i only use tv for rockets games, yankee games, ufc, law and order, and ER.
I've literally been doing this since I was 8 or 9 years old.. I never forget a face, ever. I would always point out every time an actor appeared in two or more commercials. The pudgy capitol one guy is an obvious choice.. he also does the HEB commercials as well as enterprise rent a car. another popular commercial actor is the black dude with the messy afro and goatee.. he does bud light, mcdonalds, IBM (I think), and a SLEW of other stuff.. he is probably the highest paid, busiest commercial actor on the planet.
I keep seeing this furniture guy trying to sell furniture on different channels when I'm cruising the stations.
I know exactly what you're talking about. There's this one fat middle aged black guy that seems to be EVERYWHERE. Wish I knew how to find a picture of him...
I'm with you, Donny, it's a blessing and a curse. Everyone around you hates you when you point and reel off the other stuff that guy's been in. What's worse is my affliction with character actors from late 70s/early 80s TV shows and movies, because the same guys always end up in Dallas and Rockford Files, etc. Just today I saw a guy on Dallas who was the police chief in CHiPS, and took special care to inform my girlfriend of that WITHOUT having to go to IMDB.com. My girlfriend wants to stab me. My favorite instance of this came about four years ago. We all saw this first commercial, because it played ad nauseum on TNT during NBA games. Guy comes home, goes through the mail on the kitchen table, and finds a pre-paid credit card. Oooh! Wonders aloud if it wasn't time for a vacation. Aruba maybe? Jamaica?!? Wifey wants no part of it, telling him, "you know what I really want? A house." Hands him some scissors to cut up the card. Bad actor pretends to look confused, then does an over the top, silent, "ah, IIIII get it ..." This played from around 1999-2002. Around late 2001, I noticed a Direct TV commercial that featured a DTV technician hooking up the satelite for this guy, talking about all the wonderful football games and music stations and movie and picture shows they could watch on their new Direct TV! And because they just moved into a new house, installation was free! The dreaming was interrupted by a loud "ah-HEM!" Cut over to a wife and child, in a doorway leading to an empty living room, boxes all around them. "Joke" is that the man has set up his new entertainment center, way before unpacking anything else. Ha, freakin', ha. But upon the second viewing of the second commercial, I noticed that the woman was the SAME WIFE from the credit card commercial! She dumped that no-good, Aruba-lovin' bad credit risk and got a new man -- and better -- a new house! A house! I need a hobby.
A little off topis, but Tom Parks who does the car commercials for Ron Carter in Alvin also does car commercials here in Omaha. I do not believe he owns the place and must be a proffesional TV car pitchman
Oh, let's not forget "tom" from Reliant energy.. who is actually a comedian/actor who is in a lot of other commercials.
its not about the companies that do the advertising, it's about the agents that get their clients good auditions, and the actors making the most of their opportunities...
Can anybody figure out the name of the black dude? I've tried to before with no luck. I'm just curious to see a list of all the commercials he has appeared in. I've also see him Raisan Bran commercials...
If you have DirectTV then you've seen this women a bunch: Margaret Easly She has links to many of the commercials she's been in on her page as well.
For years, I saw this one black dude in commercials for Nike, Gatorade, McDonald's, Hanes, Rayovac, and Ball Park hot dogs...damn, what was his name??
I used to think that the guy that did the Carpet Giant commercials for years was the owner of the place (like Mattress Mac or Hilton Furniture guy). But then I saw a new commercial a month or so ago which featured all the store's employees and owner, and that guy was nowhere to be seen.
