Anybody else catch this game tonight on FSN? Well, no one caught the first half because there was a power outage, but they fixed it and showed the second half. Sam Houston was down 28-10 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and came back to win 29-28. Brought back some memories of that playoff game against Eastern Washington a few years ago. At 7-4, there's probably still no chance of the Kats getting an at-large playoff berth, but I guess you never know. We ended the season on a 5-game winning streak. First we beat Bobby Knight (again) and now this. Pretty good week for us Beerkat fans.
What a win! Only downside is it prolongs Todd Whitten's career there. Not a fan. Playoff chances are slim to none. We didn't beat anyone good during non-conference (despite a good game vs dakota), and even though UCA isn't eligible it doesn't look good if they are above us in the standings.
I watched the last quarter. Exciting finish and great comeback by Sam. Y'all have something to hang your hats on.
What was he thinking going for 2 when we were down by 6? We get a penalty and move back 5 yards..... and he STILL decides to go for 2 from the 8-yard line. No idea what his line of thinking was with that decision. Good thing that didn't come back to haunt us.
I'm pissed. When Bailiff left for Rice, Texas State didn't bother to do a coaching search and just promoted the assistant head coach who hires first time collegiate coaches to all the positions. These guys are my age and I just graduated a year and a half ago. Virtually no coaching experience and this is what you get. A team that lost all momentum from when it was ranked #4 and a few seconds from going to the national championship in 2005. We started the season ranked about #18 (can't remember for sure) the proceeded to lose to DII Abilene Christian, provisional DI-AA Central Arkansas, and then just wrapped up a crappy season by blowing an 18 point 4th quarter lead to our rivals. The AD is a joke and so are the football coaches. I'm pissed, they should have kept the fishing show on.
