Wow, the Clippers have a pretty formidable backcourt with Mobley, Cassell (providing he can stay healthy) and Maggette at the 3/2. Not bad.

Brand bolsters an otherwise relatively thin frontcourt though.

Could be a nice trade for the Wolves. For the Clips, at least they got something for a player they didn't really want. Unless Shaun Livingston goes down again, the Clips have no use for Jaric.

I guess Mobley and Sam are friends but, can Cassell be satisfied with this? This guy wants to win.

CD, time to give Elgin a call.

A Cassell and Mobley back should make for some nice team ball.

This might not be the best move for Livingston's confidence...

It won't affect Livingston. Sam is near the end of the road and is no threat at all to Livingston, who could end up being a superstar. Sam might be upset at the trade since it means he has no chance of starting on a team that is not even a contender.

Wow, I really like the Clips as a low seed playoff team now. Them and Utah.

this is a rare trade because i tihnk it makes both teams better.

    ...not much better though.

maybe we could swing a deal for cassell now? eh, probably not. we need a big SG more than a PG anyway. I think sura and james are fine as long as wesley is gone for a SG 6'5 or taller. whatever, it's late and doesn't involve rockets. i'm going to bed.

The key point you guys are missing is that while Sam Cassell is a dinosaur, Marko Jaric SUCKS!!! Yeah, his size and athleticism are good, but he has the basketball IQ of a squirrel. Why do you think the Clippers gave up Okafor for Livingston?

Kevin McHale - YOU SUCK AS A GM! SUCK SUCK SUCK!

    That's sarcasm right?

Every year I read posts about how good the Clips look (on paper) ... then the season starts ... same ol' Clips.

I see the logic for the Wolves. They wanted to move Cassell and get something for him. Jaric is a solid player and will help.

And I partially see the logic for the Clippers. They made it known that Livingston was going to be the STARTER this year and that Jaric would have to back him up. Jaric didnt want to do that. So then the Clippers made a trade to get something for Jaric instead of him walking away. But here's what I dont get, they get Cassell!?!? I mean I thought the whole point was haivng Livingston be the STARTER. Will Cassell accept a back seat? Doubtful. It doesnt make sense to me.

Not to mention the thought of Cassell and Mobley in the backcourt. Think Brand will ever see the ball?

I actually wouldnt mind Cassell on the Rockets and was kind hoping perhaps a Wesley/Ward for Cassell move could get done but that seems out the window unless the Clippers want to move Cassell which I kinda doubt.

Cassell on the Clippers is a one year rental for sure. But It doesnt make sense with Livingston.

I think they brought Cassell in to provide some veteran leadership. That is a really young team, after all. Besides, if he b****es about PT, he can be shipped out pretty easily, since it is, IIRC, an expiring contract.
