Sam cassell is on the trading block.apparently the owner is putting the blame on the players and not George Karl.so anyone think we can convince the bucks to give us Sam for some draft picks or maybe even swing a nice trade....

Sam would be a good asset fo this team he loves Houston anyhow and has business ties with Steve and Cat....

    Whats your thoughts?

With Francis and Cat, there's not really a need for Cassell. He wouldn't start - something I'm sure he'd be vocal about - nor would he see major minutes.

Sometimes, what you trade away to get a good player ends up costing you in the end. For someone the Rockets don't need in Cassell, I think this is one of those cases.

Why deal away a capable backup point guard, another capable player (KT or MoT come to my mind), and some draft picks for a player you really don't need?

I don't see Houston making any kind of deal to get Cassell. We absolutely don't need him. I'de expect him to get shipped to a team that needs a pg like the celtics or maybe the heat.

I'm smelling a Cassell for Payton swap brewing in the air.

I forgot about that. Payton would probably love to go back and play for Karl.

There's a reason why he's gone around the NBA, like he was Heather Locklear.

Bucks would have to throw in another 7+ mill or so in contracts to trade Cassell for GP.

Any chance Mil could have traded Big Dog, Cassell, and change for Baker and Payton?

    How about Cassell=Two Championships

Cassell is a champ, notice when the Bucks made to the playoffs, he KILLED Baron Davis and was scoring all over Iverson.

The Bucks got rid of Big Dog which hasn't done crap but miss POINT BLANK jumpers in crunch time.

I'd EASILY Take Cassell over Moochie's sorry ass ANY day of the week! Cassell can score and dish way better than Moochie. Cassell coming off the bench and if we had Cassell, Cutino, and Steve on the Court at once? UNSTOPPABLE

    *rockets small ball lineup*
    Cassell
    Steve
    Cutino
    Eddie
    Ming

    Thats unstoppable. That's 160 pts a game.

Take that Cassell haters! Hate on his 2 championships! Lets say we had Moochie instead of Cassell back in the day, we would have ZERO championships.

Do you think that the Rockets would play small ball with Cassell, Francis, and Mobley? Francis would be an undersized SG and Mobley a very undersized SF; that lineup *might* be able to score, but it *would* get trampled on by opposing offebses.

Plus, you start to take away developing time from Nachbar and even EG by playing the guards out of position. As it is, shooting guard depth is an issue - by stretching out three guards like that, it becomes an even bigger one.

It's also kinda hard to be comparing a backup PG to a starting PG. I don't dispute that Cassell is better than Moochie, but I do dispute the fit. Cassell would come off of the bench in Houston and would more than likely not be happy with that role. Considering the likely cost to trade for him and the fact that as a backup, Moochie is a better fit on the Rockets, why get Cassell? Let another team give up too much for him.

I wouldn't be surprised: Tim Thomas + Sam Cassell + Atlanta draft pick (from Big Dog trade) = Gary Payton + Radmanovic.

Hmm. Who needs a pg - Minnesota, Atlanta, LAL, Celtics. Some others could stand to upgrade - Toronto, Portland, NY. I don't see who's going to have a lot to offer for Sam.

I don't doubt this is true, but can someone post a link to or just say where they got this info from? If it was from Insider or something, don't post it; I'd just like to read whatever's out there in the press.

Not a bad trade idea. But, if Sea isn't willing to give Rashard the max, there's no way they are going to pay Tim Thomas the max.

Well, whoever gets Casell will start winning. He's a proven winner over his career.

You're right, I was thinking the same; unless they see something in Tim Thomas they really like. Or maybe Rashard has basically said, I do not want to play in Seattle anymore, I want to go home, see what you can do. In which case, Dallas could probably easily trade for Payton and Rashard; but I don't see them breaking up a good thing, because it would involve Nash.

This delay in Rashard's signing, plus their noncommittal stance with Payton, makes me believe trade options are being pursued concerning at least one of these players and perhaps both, to see what's out there.

Of course, this being summer, and me being bored, I wonder everything.
