So now that Ron is not coming back does this mean we have his Money to spend and how much is it? 7.4 million? I really think this opens up Morey to make more moves and transform this team into a true Rick Adelman type team by picking up Faster, Younger and Longer players!

No. Unless we do a sign-and-trade, when Ron Artest leaves, so does the Rockets' ability to sign a significant player outside of the MLE.

Rockets are over the cap, so all they can do is spend the MLE like most other teams. The MLE goes to every team that is over the cap.

The LLE is also given to every team that is over the cap, unless the team used it the year before (as we did on Barry). So no LLE to work with for now.

So basically, we have the MLE or we can sign and trade. You can also always sign a player for the league minimum, which could possibly be the case with Taylor and/or Budinger.

I don't think we should commit bunch of money doing a sign and trade. As it is now, we'll have a ton of money to shell out in 2010 while still having a respectable team (if Yao comes back).

26 of the NBA's 30 teams will have cap space in 2010. If your core contracts are a questionable Yao, Battier, Hayes, Brooks and Lowry...I'm just not seeing the Gold Rush to Houston the rest of you are. Talent is talent regardless of when you get it.
