OK I think I have something that we can discuss and debate without wanting to track down IP addresses and hiring assassins to off my fellow cc.net friends.

I am embarrassed by what I see in Houston’s finest. Or in Harris County’s finest. What is the damned deal with all of the fat cops? They are EVERYWHERE. I hold law enforcers to a higher standard than I do accountants, radio jocks, laborers, and just about every profession this side of soldier. How has it gotten so bad? Why are they so lazy? Why are they so fat?

I saw a big fat cop writing a ticket on 610 today and he was obese. Not a little heavy. Not big boned. He was a fat tub of goo. I have an oath with my best friend that the next time I get pulled over, if it is a fat cop, I’m calling him out on it. And I roll with a camera so I will videotape the encounter.

I am not asking for cops to be skin and bones but I would like to see some level of physical fitness. Even for desk jobs. If you are a cop you should freakin look like it.

Your post looked more like a rant. I think in order for you to make more of a point, you should've stated that at any time, their job requires physical activity and for you to feel safe, they should be capable of these things. Whether that be chasing people down or standing in the sun for long hours on a hot day.

While we're on the subject, I'll add in the 86 yr old "security guards" at malls and wal-marts everywhere. Who are these guys kidding? Do they actually believe these guys are going to stop anyone above 3 years old from performing any illegal activities?

I always get a kick out of that 45 seconds of sucking wind after a chase on "Cops." The cops are trying to explain what just happened but their too damn busy trying to keep from passing out. I mean, if the people they were chasing didn't have bodies broken down by years of drug and alcohol abuse they could easily dust these donut jockies. Hmmm... note to self, begin exercise regimen then unleash unstoppable crime wave upon the city of Houston...

Fair enough. Overweight Cops are unable to do the job which they are paid my tax dollars to do. There are standards in place which are not met nor enforced and nobody is freaking out about it.

I would worry more about tax dollars funding the war on drugs and the prison industrial complex imo.

That cop didn't seem to be having any trouble writing that traffic ticket.

Totally agreed, but when was the last time you actually saw a cop run in the line of duty?

and he isn't SUPPOSE TO BE PROTECTING YOUR LIFE

    I agree with Chance. . .

I hold Cops to a higher standard
    they should be FITTER
    they should shoot STRAIGHTER
    they should drive BETTER
    and
They should be as polite as the average man

I agree with Rocket River. Esp. that part about being polite. It seems like they always give you the evil eye even when you aren't doing anything. If you stare at them back, here comes a ticket!

I would love to be videotaping you attempting to videotape your fat cop. :D

Hey, we agree on something! I can't tell you how many times I was pulled over during the '60's and 70's by fat cops, but it was more times than I can remember, and it was because of my long hair and bumper stickers. (Nixon Sucks! Peace Now! No FAT COPS!) Yes, life was tough enough for Blade Runners back then, before we were made famous by Ridley Scott's take on Phillip K. Dick's non-fictional account of... well, never mind. All I can say is, there's one hell of a lot of fat cops. Testify, brother!

The country as a whole is obese as hell. Cops are just a reflection of this.

I requested traffic school. My traffic school instructor was the most annoying lady I've ever heard in my life. She had one of those voices that is high-pitched and whiney that made me want to smash me heard into the wall, for 8 hours!!! Should've just paid the ticket.

Next time, take defensive driving online. It will cost you $10-15 more than sitting in a classroom, but it is well worth it. Nothing like doing defensive driving at home while downing a few cold ones!

I think he lives in California, which may not have defensive driving online lesson.
