Neil Young - Harvest Moon The whole album isn't sad, but it has a depressing bent to it, as Neil wrote it during his divorce. edit: Actually, I'm listening to the album now, and I'm noticing how sad it really is. It's mostly about love lost, but there's a song to Neil's old dog (Old King) and one about war. This is a thoroughly sad album . . .
"A Body Goes Down" by Duncan Sheik. It's a really sad but incredibly beautiful song about the drowning death of singer Jeff Buckley. I get all choked up every time I hear it.
Ditto I also like to add if you are looking for just a gloomy CD in general, try "Faith" and "Disintegration" by the Cure. They are both fantastic CDs.
Aaron Hall - I Miss You This song is about one of his girlfriends that actually died. It is portrayed in the video for the song. Really sad. Aaliyah - Miss You This is the first single off her new album released earlier this year. It's really sad as well especially how she is singing about missing somebody but the whole world is missing her. Sam Cooke - Change Gonna Come Sam wrote this song about the Civil Rights struggle during the 50's and 60's. Classic and touching The Temptations - I Wish It Would Rain Song about losing your woman and how men aren't supposed to cry but they actually do. It's versy sad as well I know of many more than that, if I have time I'll post more later.
